From a
press release issued by Jeff Heronimus
As a close friend and team member to Jessica Zalusky (AMA Roadracing #172 -
www.roadracinggirl.com), I’m writing this note on Jessica’s behalf to inform friends, fans, and the racing community that she had a stroke last night (Sunday November 16th).
Doctors found three (3) blood clots in her brain which they immediately cleared via a special procedure and currently are keeping a watchful eye on her in the ICU of a hospital near her home in Minnesota. At this point, plans are to move her to the Stroke Unit tonight.
The stroke affected the left side of her body. However, as of this morning, Jessica is aware of everything that has happened, is talking yet resting, and is starting to get feeling back on her left side.
Jessica has asked me to notify everyone that she’s doing fine and wanted her fans to know that her family is taking good care of her as she hits the road to recovery!
We’ll do our best to get updates out as time permits.

CRA #2 goes under the knife...
From a
press release issued by Zalusky Racing
Jessica Zalusky underwent knee surgery on Friday, November 7, in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota, by Dr. Bradley Nelson and Dr. Elizabeth Arendt.
The knee surgery included medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction and lateral retinacular lengthening. Zalusky sustained the knee injury during her pre-racing career as a professional snowboarder.
Zalusky came out of surgery around 5 p.m. local time on Friday and is now resting at home.
Zalusky will have similar surgery on her other knee at a later date. She anticipates an early 2009 return to road racing.
