Any potential problems buying a shock used? Do these require much maintenance?

you have to take this case by case. i bought a used Ohlins for the Hotrod M944 off e-bay. it was in excellent cond. i put it right on the bike and have had zero problems for 3 years. if it's off a race bike it might need to be rebuilt or the res. may need recharging. these are pretty durable units though and unless it's been abused i'd say it's ok. ask lot's of questions and go from there.

I did, and had it re-sprung and refreshed by Thermosman!

I bought a used ohlins off ebay for my 748, then took it to GMD to have rebuilt and resprung. Got the shock for like 300.00 and the rebuild only cost 100.00 or so. Now a have a nice ohlins at half the cost of a new one. If the shock looks good, and the price is low I think ebay is great, just get it rebuilt for your weight, etc.

Ohlins does a nice job on the rebuilds. Had mine done for like $100. Nice.
