Wife "suggested" this morning I sell my 998 so she can buy the new Repsol 1000RR

Here is the deal:
- She was a Doohan fan when he was with Team HRC Repsol, now she is a Rossi fan..Even though Rosi has moved on to yamaha, the REPSOL paint scheme is her favorite..
- She originaly wanted to buy a CBR 954( her fav bike) some day and get a Repsol sticker kit..
but now that the new CBR 1000RR is available in teh Repsol colors..she is going crazy...
Her exact words were "well since you have had your "dream" bike for about a year now, so you think its out of your system , because I woudl love to get the new repsol 1000".. I didnt really knwo what to say..the CBR 1000RR is surely very nice..The Repsol paint is a bit "squidish" for my taste..but I also dont want to be unfair to her..The CBR is no 998 though..thats for sure...
I just dont know what to do..Right now we cannot afford to have 2 new bikes..so it has to be the 998 or the Repsol..
I personally LOVE the Repsol colors , I am sure a lot of people will be buying it because of Nicky hayden..NOT me..to me those colors really belong to mick Doohan..and may be Rossi.
Anyway, just figured I should share my situation with you guys and see what you guys think...

The answer is NO, it's not out of my system. Did she say there was going to be a time limit on ownership when you bought it? If the Honda is for her are you supposed to take up knitting?

Unless she is an expert rider, the Honda will probably kill her.

You are right about the Honda being too much of a bike..
She has done a few track days..got her WERA license a few years ago and only did 2 or 3 races..
Once we had our first kid, she hasnr ridden much at all..
I think my answer will have to be NO.
I dont know..I am still on the fence about it..

Well I would keep the 998 but.................

Since you live in NC and I live in SC........
If you decided to unload the 998 give me a shout. I would be interested in taking it off you hands and getting you on the Honda.

Try these on her:
Aw honey, the 998 is a couple years old and not worth much. I might as well keep it.

Well honey, the Repsol is a nice bike, but won't be worth but a couple thousand in 3-4 years.

But if I sell the duc, I'll have no reason to get cultured and learn Italian.

*Methinks #2 will convince her.
** My kid has a 1000RR that we tweaked. Omygod. That thing does incredible 100-150 roll ons. Eats my 998 big time. And,, it transitions like a 600.

Keep the duc.

Jeeze,
Here's a hard problem ...
I'd have thought that if your woman can ride the 1000RR then it'd be a fair trade ... IF YOU REALLY CAN'T AFFORD TWO BIKES ...

If your wife can't really ride the bike (though having a WERA licence & a few races under her garter would suggest otherwise) You'd get to have some REAL go fun on a killer bike.
I have riden one of them, they are awsome to ride, very sedate round town - get 'em up on the cams tho ...

The 1000RR look so much better in the flesh too.

A good backhand is what I suggest. If that doesn't work, then the sign saying "Speak only when spoken to" should be posted somewhere in your household.

She wants you to sell your piece of art 998--the second most beautiful production bike ever made--for a Honda?! Let's all say it together now,
!!! Tell her that by next year, that Honda will look as outdated as a '98 R1. To each his own, but come on???
