Re: Whats the best battery??? (DucatiR)

I have a 999. I need one too.
Come on people, hook us up with the story. I AM NOT going to pay what Ducati wants for a battery!

Re: Whats the best battery??? (brettmess24)

Well how about the big sister to that, the Yuasa YTZ12S???? but I seen on there site they also have a Yuasa YTZ14S which is really the big sister to the YTZ7S which has 20 more C.C.A.s and weighs only .5 lbs more than the Yuasa YTZ12S .... but no one has every talked about that one??? I hear people talking about the Yuasa YTZ12S but not the Yuasa YTZ14S... it will work also right??? the Size dimensions are the same??? so it seems to be a better choice (more power with out that much more added weight??)

Re: Whats the best battery??? (DucatiR)

I just changed my battery on my 749S and I got a Yuasa YT12B-BS. It fits exactly in the battery holder with no modifications required. I also installed a trickle charger to top it up when parked in the garage. Check the Yuasa site first to make sure any battery you purchase has the same dimensions - http://www.yuasabatteries.com. There is no room to move, so the dimensions must match those of the original - 150mm x 69.0mm x 130.0mm or 6" x 2 3/4" x 5 1/8" exactly. Also the "BS" indicates that the battery can be leaned on the side, as that is the way it fits.

Re: Whats the best battery??? (DucatiR)

Whatever you do, do not get a GS or a FIAMM battery. We've had BIG problems with those---catastrophic. (GS also made the FIAMM labeled ones):

The Yuasa batteries have been fine; No catastrophic failures that I'm aware of.

That said, GS Battery bought Yuasa last year, so I guess, once again, the consumer ends up f-cked....
