I have one on my 800 Monster and I love it. I have the one with oil temp though as I dont need the speedo function on the track.

Thank you Marvin, its far easier to note the when the needle is straight up its about time to shift, sometimes seeing the shift lights in bright sunlight is tough.

Its actually an old racing trick, the gauges get oriented so that when every system is ok all the needles will point straight up, that allows the driver to scan the gauges in the car at speed. All he would have to do is note that all the needles pointed up, if not then he can take an extended look at that particular gauge

So far its been dead reliable, no issues what so ever. Fitting and wiring is straight foreword

Yup, that is what we do in a helicopter too, we set our gauges so that all the needles point the same direction when all system are working good, (temp, torque, rpm, oil…) It work really good, makes system checking (scanning) a walk in the park.

BTW it started as a 2002 M620 butnow has an 800 motor in it.

No, project bike, would need some dimensions to confirm that it would fit too if you decide you are interested..

Does anybody else use their ears to know when to shift?

On the road I use the tach more entering a corner to know how far down I want to shift, but rarely while accelerating.
On the track I don't use it too much either. Sometimes, if I get a little excited I might ping off the rev limiter, but that's a pretty good indicator it's time to shift.

With the custom earplugs I have Layne I find myself overreving sometimes. So i just use the tach and shiftlights.

do they work better than the 5 dollar "hearo" ear plugs that are readily available? is it a worthwhile purchase?
