Some pics of my partially complete SP1 build

There are still a few things to do:

Fit graphics (hopefully make a better job of fitting them than the black vinyl on the front...)
Fit Durbahn airbox and set up airbox and cans on the power commander
Fit Dymags
Figure out a way of seeing behind me that doesnt involve the use of handlebar mirrors - Anyone got any ideas?
Cut 1 1/2 inches off the crash bungs
Decide whether or not to take a few inches off the cans

Rebuild forks but I think I'll leave that for the winter.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Al

Hey vfr4, She looks Friggin' AWESOME!...

If I was You,... I'd leave the exhaust canisters and the crash sliders... Do NOT cut off anything, leave her as she is and Go RIDE Baby!:rockon

I would cut those sliders! They look like you are trying to take out a pedestrian's knees. Plus, the added leverage with all that length means they will probably just snap off.

What brand in the exhaust? Looks like Arrow? I like it aside from the end caps, they look like something off a sponge bob squarepants cartoon.

Are you going to leave the vinyl on the front? I would pull it and have the black actually painted on and cleared over instead of using decals. And then you can have the side wings painted on and cleared over too. It might even be cheaper than paying for decals and paying to get them put on.

Unless you are a professional, it can be VERY hard to get decals on straight and wrinkle free. I'm sure you figured that out with the front end. I've "helped" a friend years ago who worked at a paint shop try and replace the decals on his bike, and even with his experience, it was very difficult.

The bodywork looks very good though, you are almost there! And with that exhaust, you have a very nice looking bike.

Cheers for your comments guys

So is that a modified shot gun set up from an Aprilia Mille factory?
Yeah its Mille SP Titanium cans on a ti Durbahn system. I got it off a guy who I think comes/came on here - Jonty??

Re the vinyl - it looks awful but I'll leave it on for a while, I definitely want that look, and the vinyl protects the paintwork from the silicone which also looks awful but at least keeps the plexiglass protector in place and watertight...

I'll re-do the front this winter if not before and will hopefully have learned from my experience.

I've got wings, VTR Racing and a couple of other bits and bobs on order from a graphics place already.

Bungs are standard Durbahn ones with alu spacers to keep the holes in the fairing as small as poss - I really think they need chopping!!! Its either that or use them as footrests when I'm cruising the highway with my chapter ;)

Cheers,
Al

I suppose it all depends on your point of view... An SP1 fairing is an SP1 fairing is an SP1 fairing to some people I guess :D

The Durbahn-ish bits are:

Durbahn HRC copy fairing
Durbahn exhaust system
Durbahn CCC
Durbahn - or Turnone copy can't remember - snorkle (not that you can really see it)
Durbahn Crash bungs

plus other bits and bobs I may have forgotten atm...

Do you think the exhaust would be less goofy if the cans were shortened as per the link below?

Opps!

Lastnight when I got home,(after reading one of replies before I left work) I looked at her again... and could sse all the wrinklles
and tape stuff... that I can NOT see here on my 10+ yr. OLD work computer moniter:banghead

LMAO.... Your SP1 Isn't as Friggin' Awesome as I thought... However IMHO It is STILL Cool though..;)

Exhaust... I still feel the same way, since I like long exhaust canisters.

Yes, You are correct, your frame sliders need cutting..(LOL which really didn't show up either, Weird:confused: )
So to try and Help You, I measured my Thorsten sliders after seeing how far yours stuck out. Mine measure 1 5/8" from the side
of the fairing. I think that is approx. 42 to 45 mm from the fairing then... I Hope this helps.

Again, She's cool, Lots of potential.

...
Yeah yeah I know.

TBH the main thing for me is that I know the look works, so I can get something more permanent sorted out now. BTW, if you think that's rough, don't look too closely at the exhaust hanger

Cheers for the measure on the bungs, I've spaced them out with alu spacers, so if I cut the width of the spacer off hopefully I won't go far wrong.

I'll get there eventually :)
