Any merit to the assertion oil should be changed after a track day? Assuming an intermediate rider and the oil is not due for a change otherwise, I wouldn't think a hundred miles+ even under track/near race conditions would warrant a change.

Also, anyone find their bikes using more oil during a track day?

TIA.

Re: Track day = oil change? (doocatiboy)

Before
1. Catch anything currently in the motor(that could ruin your track day)
2. Fresh oil is alway good
3. Piece of mind(one less thing to think about during the track day)

After
1. Catch anything that happened during the track day(rockers etc)
2. Fresh oil is alway good
3. Piece of mind

You see there the same reasons for me as to before and after

Re: Track day = oil change? (brettmess24)

With the high quality synthetic oils on the market, I think it's overkill to do it after one track day.

It also depends on the bike. Dry clutchs don't contaminate the oil like wet clutches. My teammates CBR1000rr has black oil after one day and we change that more frequently.

Shameless plug: Our team is sponsored by Motorex Oil and we have never had an oil related failure on the teams bikes.

I do mine every couple of track days. Changing it for only 1 track day is bit over the top, but then that is just my opinion. I ride 748 really hard on the track(you gotta ring the neck out of it!
) and the oil looks pretty good still when I change it. Using Mobil 1.

I change it before the track day but not after.

I'll usually put some street miles on the bike b/w track days; like Trussdude said, today's oils are really quite good and can go longer than we imagine.

I've used Mobil1 and Maxima oils with no issues.

I guess I should have mentioned that I change my oil every 1500 without track days.

I guess it is overkill but I sleep better at night!

I just changed my oil today. And only after 4 hours of use.

Re: Track day = oil change? (socal)

I replace the oil every 10 ~12 trackday 'sessions' which equates to about 2 trackdays. I change the oil filter ever-other oil change.

Re: Track day = oil change? (hank)

Trying to determine whether track days - that accrue far fewer miles than widely accepted street-logged oil change miles - warrant (based on some sort of evidence) oil changes.

So for those of you who do change after track days is this based on scientific support or anecdotal feedback from others who do the same/that it provides peace of mind?
