They suck! They split! They crack! They are refurbished! They are just horribly made tires!

thanks for the info. can't say i've ever heard of them before.
The only thing between you and the road is your rubbers, and I don't skimp. Michelin, metzler, pirelli, etc.
G
Well actually there the company that produce the "colored" tires. I don't even think there DOT but they mentioned they were FAA approved! LOL

Sure enough, they do make the colored tires.Looked it up.
well I think the pic speaks for itself. Tires should be black.
Michelin, Metzler, Pirelli, etc.

Edit:if this is your bike, sorry.............looks good, minus the tires.

Well it's kool cause it's different, but the damm tires just suck. And that's why I want people to know that.

Re: (1Sl0wDuCrIdeR)

Would be cool on a track bike.
What happened with the tires. Were they used on street or on track?
Also, how many miles before they cracked?
Are all their tires refurbished? is that retreading a tire?
G
Well one started to crack on the sides...they were used on the street, it took less than a 1000 miles. LESS! On the last two questions I don't have a definite answer. Sorry. I know the 2nd one they sent me was retreaded. Had about 6 caps and 2 1/8 inch gap from one cap to another. Also I don't think they have an original tire.

Just for a different perspective, I use them (the black ones, thank you) and I have several friends who use them as well. I have the old "sport" style on a 600 and just tried the race slicks on my 996; while I was at the race, I saw another guy who was really competitive on his 600 and he was using the dot races (we did notice that, after 3 days and 2 races, the tires showed some spalling on the left side of the tread but we both surmized this is due to stressing a cool tire as the track only has 2 lefts and they are far apart).

Are they equal to the best rubber out there? No. But, in my experience, they are equal to the task and I dropped a second a lap when I switched out my pirelli supercorsas for the slicks (which cost $209 a set) and the street set I just put on my ST4 was a whopping $118 (total).

Finally, I stronly suggest you call them with your complaint. A buddy of mine called to say that he thought the tread looked "funny" as it was wearing (I looked at it and thought it looked fine) and they sent him a new tire for free.

And I understand that they are DOT certified.

But, again for the record, I ONLY USE THE BLACK ONES - COLORED TIRES ARE FOR SQUIDS!!!

Maybe Im alone here, but I actually like the color wheels- they're unique. Would I use them? probably not. But I do enjoy seeing them on other bikes.

I believe Tomahawk tires are sponsoring an endurance race team this year. I saw them at the opening round at Jennings. They crashed out at around the half way point, I think. (Too busy repairing crash damage on our own bike to really pay attention.) I have no input other than that. Oh, and FWIW, STUMAN was written across the back of one set of their leathers.
G
I wouldn't have thought that crap quality pink, yellow or green tires would be such a global surprise.
I'm just looking forward to future purple burn-outs.
Hendrix lives.

Here in the Uk, my mates and i have a chuckle about this- a male who shall otherwise remain nameless other than "racing barry" sewn on to his leathers has a set of these red tyres on his otherwise nice enough 748. He used to try and get his knee down (road) and it was quite comical seeing him shuffling around on the seat and "airing his knee". perhaps sticky tyres would have helped him!.. oh and a riding style to suit.

At least he desecrated a ducati and not jap!
Where is the duke now? - in his sitting room apparently in place of the tv- now has a cbr600rr for road- Good lad!

This month's issue of Roadracing World has a very thorough review of both DOT race tires and DOT street tires. Dresser (i.e., Tomahawk) declined to send tires for review. One thing that was really shocking in the review was the overall difference in weight between the various manufacturers. For example their was a 4lb. difference betwwen a set of Michelin Power Race and a set of Dunlop Race (Michelins were lighter). That's a huge difference in rotational weight.

Just call me an old timer; I don’t trust these new companies (tomahawk, metzler….and so on). I stick with the ones that have been in business for a long time like Michelin, Dunlop, Pirelli.

In all honesty, when you think of it, you only have 2 little patches of rubber gripping the ground beneath you at 150mp or so. Don’t really want to risk my life testing some new shit. If a tire gets cracks and splits at low miles, I'm distancing my self from that like a plague!
No thanks sir, I’ll have my Michelins now.

Metzeler has been around for over 100 years and makes Pirelli motorcycle tires.

Gotta ask though, since the rubber compound is colored, does is leave colored lines on the pavement?

Well I did complain twice. And there service was kool. But all they told me was they have never heard of such a thing happening. I got 2 f#%ked up tires.
So I guess it's my fault huh?

Yeah Phil you are right Metezler has been around for over 111 years, but I really don’t think they are the makers of Pirelli. I know for a fact that Metezler is European brand and Pirelli from the looks of it is Asian, and I haven’t seen any thing that links them two together. Please excuse my ignorance; I'm only trying to link my car tire knowledge with this topic.
