It was a great bike and I have never been so fast on anything else... but I had raced and done track days on the bike for almost 2.5 years so it was time for a change. I was considering going with the new ZX-10R, but I can not stand the way it looks. Granted, that's in street trim... I'm sure it will look better track prepped... maybe not. The new 636 is sweet, but nobody has an '06 now + I hear the ergos are tighter than the '03/'04 years... which is not good for my 6' 5" frame.

ANYWAY, I am indeed breaking away from my Kawi roots and picking up that '04 Yamaha R1 that I mentioned a couple weeks back. It is already tricked out with some really nice stuff and ready for the track. Just put in gas, turn on the warmers and suite up! The deal is just too good to pass up. That extra 45 hp. is going to be... uh... interesting for sure. If work isn't too crazy, I should have it in the garage Tuesday evening. I'll post pics later!

Sorry, I missed the part about what kind of Kawi you had.

I do imagine that you will have a ton of fun on the R1....very narrow bike with narrow bars....but that is what I like......and I am the inverse of you....5'6"....post pics when she's yours.

Ahh yes... sorry. I had an '03 636.

Interesting about the "narrowness" of the R1 you speak of. I liked my Kawi because of how wide the bars were and the generally longer reach from the seat to the bars. It felt like a bigger bike to me while still being a Middleweight.

Wouldn't that be something... going to a 1000cc bike and having it feel smaller than the 6R!

:wtf :D

I have a feeling that things should be pretty close.

I rode a Kawi (natch) at Keith Code's School....was just astounded at how big it seemed, like riding a sofa. My R6 seemed like a 250 compared to it.
