My bike has been feeling odd lately when turning right to left. It feels like the sterring bearing is dry or bad. I lifted the bike front and can`t feel the problem when turning it, but in the ground, it feels tight. I want to dismantle it to inspect, Is the round cap ( with holes around ) on top of the upper triple clamp just a nut ?
Any advise very appreciated.
My Duc is a 2000 900ssie.
Anticipated thanks.

yes, the round cap is a nut. make sure you loosen the pinch bolt in the side of the triple clamp before trying to remove it.

Re: (Willy L)

ditto what willy said on tire pressure first... but then yep... it's not too difficult to check the steering head bearings. if you find they're shot, bring 'em to your local bearing house (check the yellow pages) and see if they carry equivalent replacements.
