...and he had wonderful news! In 6 months (or so he says), Ohlins will be producing another run of forks, based on the Ohlins FGRT for the ZX-14!!!

He was saying that the forks, as is, are the appropriate size and stroke for the '51, and will bolt into the stock triples, with no modification! He also said that he was gonna have Ohlins change the fork bottoms to accommodate the 51's axially mounted brakes, but I'm thinking that since some of us are already running radial brakes, it <should> all bolt-on the ZX-14 specific forks, no?

Has anyone already done this? Is this old news or am I the only one excited here?!

I heard that from LDH this weekend as well. I'm curious to see how this works out.

does this mean that STOCK ZX-14 forks are a viable replacement for RC51 forks?

It is nice to have alternatives. Perhaps the valving and springs could be changed, but it would be nice if they fit. Plus they have radial caliper mounts built in.

It would seem that way. The only thing I don't know about is the axle diameter and how that might affect wheel choice, bearing selection, and front fender fitment issues. Those are all petty issues in the long run, but ZX-14 forks seem to be the ticket, according to Dan Kyle.

Here is RC51 ohlins in RC51 triples with Ohlins radial mount adapters like from 3 years ago

you have to buy the adapters seperately:banghead so it costs more but it was rather easy

Nice... Is that Yours Mark? Great info. too by the way.:rockon

Also,... I wonder is there ANY:rolleyes: out here in RC51 SpeedZilla land:> that went and had Dan Kyle rework their forks..... and then later
on went ahead and bought Ohlins forks?
How much of a differance is there between the 2?

I am wondering out loud because...
I had Dan rework my forks over ayear ago... and I've got to tell you boys../ and girl.... This set-up from Dan Kyle..... Is AWESOME!

That is my bike Jeff from a while ago. I had RC51 reworked forks on there and custom radial mounts( i think jons) and R1 calipers but for this build i thought them too plain so i went for go and tossed on some upgrades:)

I have had several sets of OEM reworks and they have been fine for the street as well as 3 sets or ohlins and i have yet to beat on any of them properly:banghead

^^like he said. Is there enough of a improvement with the ohlins units over reworked stockers(by DK) to justify the cost?
To very loosely paraphrase LDH Mike, If the Ohlins forks with SBK valving are a 10 (scale of 1-to-10), the reworked forks by Kyle are a 7. That's pretty much what I was getting from him over the phone.

But, it'd be best to contact LDH directly about this issue if you value his opinion. I do.

Hey Jeff, it's going. Haha

I really don't want to sell them but I've been too lazy to install them on the SP1. I don't ride her very much anymore.
