if you are really hanging off the RC, this stuff is all but worthless if installed in manufacture suggested location. It really should be in the crotch area (uncomfortable) and a horizontal strip along the tank near the Honda decal for the forarm. But it does give it that race-esque quality. If I had it to do over agian, I wouldnt buy stomp grip...or I would buy the universal and cut strips to place where I contact the bike during cornering.
I never had a problem with traction until early this fall season, with the temp difference and the low humidity I found it difficult to stay put.

Sliding forward on the brakes, sliding back on the gas and using my legs way too much when leaned over. This caused premature fatigue and a lack of concentration.

I remember LDH mentioned the stomp pads, I think it was him.

I decided to have my seat reupholstered with a synthetic looking material, it looks like black suede. (kinda like the Bimota seats) It was fine when there's humidity but the stomp grip made an even greater difference. I got the clear tank pads and a large sheet of black and another seat, just incase the tank pads weren't enough I'd try plan "B". So far I haven’t needed to resort to the modified seat plan. Plus I need to be able to move about with little effort with out having to always stand over the saddle to position myself.:twocents

Your correct only a small area is contacted when cornering but...
You can see the same thing in my sig line, in the middle pic. It would be very difficult to hang off effectively and keep your leg in the indentation of the tank where the stomp grip is.

All I am offering is advice that might help you get acustom to them.
not trying to be a arse man...the advice is appreciated. I just have been going over this when I ride, and noticed the grip could be better if it more centerally located. I also think a nice rubbery tank pad would help "grip the tank mid thigh". 'Cause the tank alone is too slick to grip.

And I do like the stomp grip. It looks cool.

You can place the pads where ever you want.
Before anyone slaps them on their tank some consideration should be given to where they will be of the most use. I placed mine a tad further back and used a blow dryer to get'em in shape. Part of the knee area doesn't touch like in our pics but enough of the inner thigh does to make a difference. Personally I think they're ugly but its a trade off.
BTW I had a large foam pad in the middle of the tank, it was fine and helped but the Stomp pads work better.
