Tamada to the top. Rossi 4th quickest with the flu. Nicky at his usual spot as 5th fastest Honda. Bayliss still struggling.

Makoto Tamada proved his status as a serious rival to Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP World Championship this season with a stunning lap time on the final day of preseason tests at Sepang on Sunday.

Tamada was the only rider to dip under the 2’01 mark, stopping the clock at 2’00.955 in just his third test aboard Michelin tyres.

Full report and lap times to follow shortly…

Re: Sepang Day 3 (999)

the top 8 positions inside a 1/2 second, that what i call close, but i think that tamada want's it more than the others besides of course of rossi and gibernau. i cant wait for the season to begin,it's going to be awsome.

Re: Sepang Day 3 (999)

Tamada used a qualifying tire to get that time, Biaggi's best time was on race tires.

You can't put too much stock in a single fast lap, it's more important to be consistent over a long stretch of laps.

I think Edwards will be fine when the season gets underway, they may not be trying to set the world on fire with lap times but they should be working on a setup that gets them consistency. Who knows, maybe they're sandbagging a little to give the Honda riders false hope only to crush them once the season starts.

I don't think pre-season testing is the best telltale of performance during a race. Maybe he was testing parts/tires that didn't have the desired effect. Who knows? (not me as I didn't read the Yamaha press release).

As much as I love watching Rossi I really do hope we see someone else at the front and on the podium this year.
