Lolly was simply faster than Rossi on the day, as he has been for much of the season. Rossi would never let Lolly win unless he simply had no counter on the day.
Rossi proved his class and speed (yet again) the previous race, when he DEMOLISHED two-thirds of the riders to win...passing every fast guy out there, easily.
But Lolly.....is magnificent, and given identical equipment, I'm 100% certain that he is at least as fast as Rossi, or faster. Whether he has the long-term mental toughness and gamesmanship needed to continue to be the class of the field ofr years to come, remains to be seen. I have only seen 1 little ***** so far....in a very good season for him, when he traded blows with Rossi with Championship still up for grabs. That could have been a disaster for him, but it's the only time I recall seeing a (slight) mental lapse. Even then...it happens to most top riders, including Rossi.
