If you find good riding roads in the Chicagoland Area consider yourself lucky. I lived there 30 years and never found one. You'll find all the expansion joints, potholes, and damaged pavement very easily with your two Ducati. Wisconsin and Northern Illinois have some good, flat, open roads which are excellent for top end runs and testing the main jets!

The BMW will be great up there because of its cushy suspension and good wind protection. Some years it's cold from mid-September to early-June.

I still say I'm from Chicago but it's not motorcycle heaven in my opinion.

Gratten is about 200 miles from Downtown Chicago.

chicagoland blows for decent roads. try shooting up into wisconsin for the good stuff. i like chicagolandsportbikes.com for local stuff, but nothing beats speedzilla for duc stuff. :)

It's funny. I live about 5 miles from the Illinois/Wisconsin border and I agree totally abotu the sucky roads. I'm always on the outskirts of the city when I ride. I only go to the city to meet up with people and I head out. I've found many isolated twisty roads in WI which I love. It's too bad they city cats gotta travel so far to get a decent ride.

I'm a recent translplant to IL so I don't know where Gratten but someone answered your question. But I'll see you soon Ian!

Does anyone know of any nice roads south of Chicago? I want to venture south and west this summer.

Thanks
