I am having some intial acceleration issues with the R1... its hesistates a little bit when I get on the gas (doesn't wheelie :woot: :p ). Actually it seems to have always done that since I bought it, come to think of it. :D

I read reviews that the 04-06 models ran better with -1 tooth at the front and +2 on the back crank. Any experience with that?

Also, what else could be causing those symptoms?

Stock sprockets for a 05 R1 are 17/45 that gives a low ratio of 2.64... going
-1 and +2 in the sprockets gives 16/47 for a very very low ratio of 2.93... you
should have plenty of punch with 17/45 considering my 94 750 comes stock
with 17/40...

Things that might be causing your symptoms...

Bad battery or low volts...
Wheels don't spin freely...
Tire pressure low...
Clutch slipping...
Air cleaner clogged...
Fuel Pressure low...
Low compression...
Faulty fuel pressure regulator...

What among those would also effect the top end? It has no problem at the top end... just trying to rule things out.

Also, wouldn't the clutch slipping cause the bike to not fully disengage when at idle, with the clutch pulled in?

Thanks!
