What did they call they call the factory bike? YZF, YZR, OW01? He rode with Mike Baldwin, he was impressed by the ride put in by the Malboro Yamaha Australia guys, Mike Dowson and Kevin Magee, they rode basically a kitted street bike, FZ750, Roberts and Baldwin were on the full factory bike and pretty much diced with the Aussie pairing all race. 1986?

err No, remember Mike Baldwin and Randy Mamola were Kenny Roberts' riders in his first year as owner of the Lucky Strike Yamaha 500GP team.

Kenny Roberts Suzuka 1985 team Tech21 (team mate Taira) They won the race.

and Kiwi you were right it was a FZR750.

His second appearance in Suzuka (1986) was aboard the YZF750 Lucky strike (team mate Baldwin) came second and i think this was his last Race in his carrier

The next year managed a team with HJohn Kosinski on the handlebars of the Luckytrike bike but they managed only 8th with his team mate Reyborn(?)
