all right the question at hand that i am looking for an answer to--
what would the best ducati superbike 4 valve motor ,- piston -rod -crank -cases -trans combination be for a street, light track duty bike. this using stock or sps cams. g cams =to many valve adjustments.

i'll bite, but it's bound to be less than professional.

996 base with 2mm overbore (bcm kit) and 1000ss crank with carillo rods to suit. 1125cc. 38/32 valves, ported and std cams revving no higher than 9,500. wide ratio box is great on street bikes.

or 996 base with 2mm overbore and 748 crank and carillos to suit - 966cc. same big valves, maybe 748r/sps cam combo. it'll rev a bit higher, but you should be able to keep it under 10 for long life.

or, for the really sensible option, 996 with squish set and cam timing done and light flywheel and tuned and spend some money on the chassis.

what sort of answer were you after?

thanks brad --those are the kind of answers i was looking for

the chassis is dialed as its going to get the only upgrade would be bst wheels
i am trying to find the right combination for the right reasons
anyone else have good ideas?
