IIRC when I had my RC apart after I wrecked last time, it seemed to me like the tank would be a bitch to prop up because of those short ass lines underneath that attach to the part that you prop up. Maybe my shit is just routed weird or something but that rear spark plug is going to be a mother****er to replace if i am right :(

Hey Brandon,

Just to change out your "Rear Spark Plug" IS a piece of Cake bro., as You start to lift the Fuel Cell, there is a hose (OverFlow I think) which has a "fold over Clamp" on it right under the cell at the "Fuel Pump", just take your fingure and push it back to free the hose and You SHOULD be able to lift the fuel cell right up max'd BUT Of course do NOT forget the 2 Tail section screws right at the front side(s) of the tail section, put a rag over and between the fuel cell and tail section fairings..

Piece of Cake!;) Then it's to remove the spark plug wire and spark plug, replace with a new one and assemble everything back up.! Rears done.

It's the fat fuel line which restricts the tank from pivoting as much as you'd like.

I took mine off today (I was doing clearances) and would only say it's a problem if you've any fuel in the tank.

If you get a hand syphon and drain it off first, you'll probably find getting the tank off not too bad.

I have to do the 16k service I suppose all this mumbojumbo is in order as well... *sigh* I really should get my motorcycle license or at least my permit before I do all this...

Mine's at 16.8K and I'm ready to get those plugs in. While at it, is there a known good way to install a fuel line quick release? It pisses me off to no end there isn't one in the RC, all of my other bikes have it. I remember LP had one in their catalog but I'm not sure if it's the right size for the stock fuel line if you cut it and try to get the quick release in there.

One last thing you need to is when you tighten the spark plugs, loose them back up and retighten them again. That's why they come with crush washers. Spark plugs have a bad habit of coming loose from the vibration of the motor. Good luck bud.
What page in the service manual does it say this?
Just torque them and forget em.

After removing mine the other day and getting fuel everywhere I'm very tempted by the quick release.

But instead I just found a cheap old hand syphon to drain off fuel first.

It's not really a hassle to remove the fuel line - it's the fact the fuel goes everywhere which is the problem.

And it all comes from the fuel return line anyway - so you'll want quick release on that also.

Best way to drain fuel is to just run fuel pump and divert the fuel out into a catch can :)

I'm a bit stupid - please elaborate.

Raise tank, turn on ignition, start bike, remove fuel line / fuel return line, drain fuel?
I did this once on my gix - they have a convenient L-shaped piping coming out of the gas tank with quick disconnect. Raise tank, unplug fuel pump, unplug fuel line, get a hose over tank side into a catch tank, hot-wire fuel pump. Fuel gone from the tank in minutes.

AFAIK some factory race kits have this capability built in into ECU/wire harness.
