Painting Clutch Pressure Plate?

I'm looking for a cheapo way to dress up my clutch. I like the way the anodized pressure plates from various manufacturers look, but I'm a cheap bastard and don't particularly want to fork out the cash for one. Has anyone ever tried just painting it with a high temp enamel such as Krylon or the like?

Maybe it's a bad idea, but before anyone asks me how many bedrooms my trailer has or where I get my tooth cleaned, keep in mind I'm a student on a budget...

Thanks in advance

it's hanging out in the wind though and we don't sit still for long. i've tried other locations and did not like the look. that's what it's all about really. (and the Hokey/Pokey)

i'd relocate the ohlins remote reservoir - the line is resting on/ or is near the engine which is a heat source. the whole point of the remote reservoir is to keep the gas contents cool for better flow.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Just go "Mental" on your clutch case... then you'd have a nice "clutch fan" cooling effect!

Mental and others: When you used a non-high-heat paint to do your clutch pressure plates (I used a spray enamel), does the paint get tacky when the plate heats up? I did mine less than 48 hours ago so maybe it hasn't been long enough to cure. Any feedback or reassurance that it will eventually cure would be nice ;-)

Here's how it turned out for me.

I bead blast the plate foirst and then a bath of acetone for residue removal - the results are very good.
If anyone wants it done, just email me at [email protected]

One can of Gunmetal gray from Autozone for about $3.00. I painted the plate and the springs. For prep, I just cleaned them real well with simple green and a scrub brush. It was smoking hot the day I did it, so I let them sit in the sun for a few hours to dry. No problems so far.
