My sister lived in Morocco for 20 years, and every Spring there would be a huge uproar over daylight savings time. The government would announce that on such and such a date - all clocks will be moved forward one hour.
Many would scream that it's wrong to change the time, and that just because the evil West did such a foolish thing, we honorable Arabs did not have to follow like sheep. I think Arabs just need something to be outraged about or they're bored.
This would go back and forth for the weeks leading up to the official day. Then the clocks would be moved forward one hour. Well, some of the clocks would be moved forward. Other clocks would remain at the original hour because of the "disagreement" - and because of that evil West thing.
For the next couple of weeks the country would be in (even greater) disarray. Businesses would open at 9AM or not... depending on whether they agreed with daylight savings time or not.
Finally, after weeks of arguing... the government would turn the clocks back to the original hour and that would end the whole daylight savings fiasco - until the next year.
And Morocco is one of the more modern Arab countries. We got a good laugh out of the stories from The Land That Time Forgot.
Imagine these bozos with nuclear weapons!
