I just read on the RoadRacing World site that Mark was in (and finished) Saturdays Formula Extreme race on his, close to bone stock 749! Congratulations Mark! Qualifying with that gang is a hell of a big thing in my book. I am damn proud of you! Damn proud.

Re: Mark (socal)

I guess Mark isn't going to bless us with his novel... I mean, race report, (heh) but word is 749R's don't handle so well with flat rear tires...

I'm watching the FX race right now on Tivo and they spoke about Mark #171 for a brief second as he was put a lap down by Duhamel and Zemke. :)

I could hear the sigh of relief from Ohio to Alabama when I told Hord it was a flat tire that put me out of the race and not a blown motor (that he has *way* too many hours of blood, sweat, and tears into).

The long version of the race report is on my site -- http://www.woundedduc.com Click on the "Racing" tab.

Short version is I started out pretty well and went slower everytime I went out on the track, which is *very* unusual for me (I usually start slow and don't turn my best lap times until the race.) Group 1 (my group) qualified in the wet, and Group 2 (the fast guys) qualified in the dry, which made for a *huge* spread of lap times. AMA suspended the 112% qualifying rule or no one in Group 1 would have made the grid. My practice laptimes were under 112%, though, so at least I would have made the grid if both sessions were dry.

In the final, I got boxed in off the start, was dead last, and was turning lap times 1.5 seconds slower than my Friday morning practice times. Just couldn't seem to pull my head out. Stayed out of the way when Miguel, Jake, and Vince went by nose to tail, and was out the next lap with a flat rear tire. Did get the Speedvision mention when I got lapped.

It a polarizing color scheme, to say the least. I started painting my bikes that color when I started racing so my girlfriend (now wife) wouldn't miss me with the stopwatch. As you could see on TV, with the paint and the leathers, I'm hard to miss.

You'd be surprised at the number of people that stop by and say how much they love my paint scheme. The only people who don't seem to like it are the "Ducatisti" who can't abide by a Duc that's not red.

That's 16-year-old Ryan Andrews on Chandler's '04 FX bike. Keep an eye on this kid . . .

Sorry for the poor pic quality. It was good to actually be named as your sponsor over the PA at Barber.

tis a bit late i know- but just a small correction: Ryan Andrews is 18 years old, but the rest is right- it is Chandler's old bike and definately keep an eye on him!
