I could hear the sigh of relief from Ohio to Alabama when I told Hord it was a flat tire that put me out of the race and not a blown motor (that he has *way* too many hours of blood, sweat, and tears into).
The long version of the race report is on my site --

Short version is I started out pretty well and went slower everytime I went out on the track, which is *very* unusual for me (I usually start slow and don't turn my best lap times until the race.) Group 1 (my group) qualified in the wet, and Group 2 (the fast guys) qualified in the dry, which made for a *huge* spread of lap times. AMA suspended the 112% qualifying rule or no one in Group 1 would have made the grid. My practice laptimes were under 112%, though, so at least I would have made the grid if both sessions were dry.
In the final, I got boxed in off the start, was dead last, and was turning lap times 1.5 seconds slower than my Friday morning practice times. Just couldn't seem to pull my head out. Stayed out of the way when Miguel, Jake, and Vince went by nose to tail, and was out the next lap with a flat rear tire. Did get the Speedvision mention when I got lapped.
