I am moving back to the Bay Area. When I came out here I shipped my bike in a container, which they were able to load with the household goods shipment. Our household has grown, so that won't work this time. I contacted Allied but not sure I am thrilled with the uncrated shipping, even though it is their special services division.

FYI i am looking for the safest and most convenient (door to door) not the least expensive...Thanks.

If your afraid of shipping uncrated, you could go down to your local bike dealer and ask them to either give you or sell you a crate from a new bike that came in. Our dealer out here just throws some away from time to time and didn't mind giving me one. I would try that if your are worried about crating. Other wise rent a uhaul and pull it behind you for the next cheapest solution. Shipping cross country will probably run you 600-1000$.
