....he's only second in provisional qualifying, by a little over 1/10th. His early season performance was obviously beginner's luck. :D

Biaggi on pole.

Hopkins is 18th and the fifth Honda down the order.

But it is just his first time racing this year, first full day in race conditions with the team. New tires, new bike, new hairdo.

I would be surprised if he finishes in the top for either race, but will get better as the season progesses. He should find his place in the pecking order by mid-season. I would say most weekends in points but off the podium.

Like MotoGP.

Wait until Saturday... I'm glad Spies figured out his bike so quickly, but this is Europe now and the European's will win...

Spies stole your girlfriend, didn't he? Either that or you're just an insanely jealous "racer". When he gets to Miller, will the "Americans" take over?

Tye: the sheer depth of your denial astounds me. You're at least consistent in your beliefs. :clapper

Now about this bet....I propose we start a pool. $100 gets you in, pick any racer on the grid. Losers donate their $100 to RRW's AFF, winners can too if they wanna be upstanding and all that :rockon

I'm in...my Benjamin says SPIES :D

Ya know, you prolly shouldn't have posted that.....gonna be hard to have that brought to your attention everything you post anything on here after Spies gets finished coasting to a championship that won't get anywhere near the final round before being decided.

not nice to beat up on everybody on your spare bike...........

Spies pole supremacy continues at Valencia

Ben Spies continued his perfect 2009 qualifying run by taking his third World Superpole pole in as many attempts with a record-breaking lap at Valencia on Saturday.

The rookie, winner of the last three races, suffered some kind of technical problem with his factory-backed Yamaha in Superpole 2 and had to switch to his spare bike. Nevertheless, Spies shot from eighth to first with one and a half minutes of the third and final Superpole session remaining.

The Texan's best lap time was a stunning 1min 33.270sec, smashing Max Neukirchner's 2008 pole record by over half a second to sit a massive 0.685sec clear of nearest rival Regis Laconi.

DFX Corse rider Laconi produced an admirable performance to be the leading Ducati rider, with championship leader Noriyuki Haga 0.812sec behind Spies in third on the factory 1198. Team-mate Michel Fabrizio will start on the outside of the front row in fourth.

Yukio Kagayama heads row two, ahead of Suzuki Alstare Brux team-mate Neukirchner, with rookie Jonathan Rea the lead Honda rider in seventh.

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team-mate Carlos Checa, who clashed with leader Neukirchner at the final corner of race one at Valencia last season, will start in eighth place after a best lap over two-seconds slower than Spies.

Checa had crashed early in Superpole 2 and was using his spare bike.

Aprilia's Max Biaggi, fastest in Friday qualifying and Saturday free practice at Valencia, was among those eliminated in the very first phase of Saturday's knockout Superpole session.

Tye? .....Hello.... Cant hear you:rolleyes:
After Spies' Superpole performance, perhaps he's temporarily tongue-Tyed. Although maybe he's not replying because he's "engaged" in some form of private "physical" activity which has him rendered hog-Tyed. Then again, when the title is won by Spies in run away fashion, our less than impartial friend will likely be so upset that he'll simply be fit to be Tyed. :D

Just more luck on Ben's part. Just wait until The Race. THAT'S when it gets serious. ;)

As far the betting pool is concerned, is there anyone who'd get picked to win besides Spies? May as well just send a $100 donation to the RRW AFF right now.
