Some of the local Ducti Club members (www.desmonorthwest.com) had the pleasure of witnesing at the last track day, what I believe will be an up and coming rider in the AMA and beyond over the next few years. His name Mitchel Pierce, he is 17 and this shot is of him leaving big black marks on his GSXR1000 coming out of one of the turns in Seattle last Friday. You can see all the black marks on the track from him playing around. He did this exiting and entering any turn on the track at will...he currently holds the track record in Seattle.
I wonder where his background came from -- pavement or on dirt. ALL of the best riders (and also racecar drivers) that I have dealt with over the years, the best learned on the dirt early to slide either end comfortably. The advantage they have with that skillset alone is invaluable when it comes to actually being on the pavement.
His father roadraced but put Mitchel flat tracked growing up.. You should see him on his XR80 in the pits !! His is totaly comfortable steering with the back wheel.. There will be some more pic's on desmonortwest.com soon !
We would LOVE to sponsor him but I don't see a way to do it right financialy, but we will offer him any help we can.
shows him at a very strange angle leaned over all the way and backing it into a big left hand sweeper turn 9 at SIR (PRP as it is now known) http://studio819.smugmug.com/g...22664
I did that all the way through a four lane intersection because i got pissed waiting for a light that would not turn green on my old xs500....And I shat YOUR knickers also.
