Re: LED tailight/brakelight for 748/916/996/998 Superbikes? (Ducaholic)

i have (or technically had, due to crash) the ss version of ken's light. ken has posted here before. The video on his web site in the ss section is my bike. He makes superbike lights also. They work as advertised.

Edit:

HERE is the old thread with review, pictures, etc. of the SS version....

Re: LED tailight/brakelight for 748/916/996/998 Superbikes? (998)

I noticed on the Casoli Moto site that the price was listed for each. Do they mean $139 for each of the taillights (2 total)? If so, that's nuts.

It is 139 for both.
Also took a little patience to get the lights to sit right.
They do not sit flush against the lens.they almost stand straight up and down when the bike is all closed up.

superbrite has plug in bulbs for all standard sockets...i'm thinking of adding their 4" multilamp bar as an added brake light...keep the cagers happy...

skip the bird in the hand...i'll take the two in the bush...

Which ones did you use in your Duc's tail?

Re: LED tailight/brakelight for 748/916/996/998 Superbikes? (Ducaholic)

i put the 12 element #1157 bayonet red tail/stop in my duc and #3157 wedge base in my F-150 pickup...current draw goes from 5/20 watts to 40/90 ma...and a #194 licence plate light...the little copper contacts on the stock socket lose tension and the brake doesn't always operate...am thinking of getting after market wedge base and converting the socket and may go with the available 19 or 24 element bulbs...the 4" sealed light bar i was thinking of is not currently on the superbrightleds.com website...will keep looking for that...i have a monster with givi rack which blocks anything but direct rear view...

It's hard to make the stock brake lights brighter. LED replacements are brighter, but too directional, so because the tail lights are angled up, they don't shine directly back. Higher wattage incandecent bulbs will overheat and melt the lens if you hold the brake at stoplights.

My suggestion is to augment the stock lights with something like this:

As usual Shazaam is in the know. That LED license plate looks cool, but maybe a little too large for my rear end
