can anybody lead me in the direction where to get the bolt that will fix the kickstand auto-retract or the plate that will fix it also. It's for an MV agusta but I think the fix for the ducati will work on it too.
Thankx

For what works on earlier Ducatis, head over to http://www.nicholsmfg.com

Personally I wouldn't change the autoretract even though it's a pain in the ass. Maybe you can somehow retrofit one off the 2000+ year models. Just be really sure you don't leave it down. Ask me how I know.

I also know what you mean. Had a closed call once at the canyon on a left hand sweeper with the kickstand still down. Luckily the kickstand retracted back from grinding against the asphast. Almost went off roading.

The reason why I don't like automatic retract is because it takes you a little bit longer getting off the bike to put the kickstand down. It's a pain in a butt IMO. Also somebody might accidently drop your bike when when they don't realize the kickstand has been retracted because they have straighten up the up and you're not around to supervise.

Well I did indeed go right off the road and into the ditch, picked the front wheel clean off the road. Result totaled 996. That was about 4.5 years ago and now I have fetish about checking the stand on any bike I get on even though all of them have a cutout. Lesson learned. That autoretract is there for a reason. Don't mess with it.

Roger that. I modified mine so that I had to put it up myself. I ran off Thunderhill in turn 1 (fast turn) TWICE!!!!! when the sidestand was left down - once when I had just come onto the track and once when I stopped in the hot pits to talk with an instructor.

When I got home, I popped the original bolt in.

People get on my bike only when I'm with them. I keep a close eye on the stand and I hold it down when the lean the bike left to put it onto the stand.

I'm used to it.
