I just won the 68 Race bike on e-bay. Hell freakin yeah!
I am adding the following:
The guy that last raced this bike at Daytona 5 years ago piped up today and says it will do 130mph. Add to that that I found out that the brake and shift levers are both on the wrong side after I bought the freakin thing. I am an idiot but I will be a fast idiot for at least for a second or two. Here is the pic that the last guy to race her sent today .

to quote doug lofgren in an email he sent me once

"friends don't let friends go vintage racing"

like you think a late model bike is a bottomless pit.

If you know me you will know how this will shake out! Thanks for your interest. I am totally screwed now. Good thing I got single in Nov.
This is what I was going for before the above photo came up.

We are campaigning the national AHRMA series this year. We have several "modern" road race customers who are interested in the more "gentile" world of vintage racing. I bought back my 650TT2 so I could go play with them. Vintage racing is the best!

Hear Hear!! I raced in AHRMA from 99-2001. That was one of the best groups of guys around. I mean where else can you grid up against your heros from childhood. At Daytona Ive gone up against Y. Duhamel, G. Nixon, and many others. And the wonderful collection of motorcycle history you get to see.

Re: I'm Going Vintage Racing (Vandal996)

Damn, Vandal.... that rocks.

The first Ducati I was ever introduced to was an old “caf?acer” type like that... only all black. The guy that rode it ALWAYS wore all black. He rode that thing to work every day...rain or shine. He was a true enthusiast. I was 19 and I got hooked from that time on.

Cool bike.

I was a backmarker in the AHRMA Bott series with my 748 last year and plan to do the same this year. I loved it. It will be fun to see you out there! I didn't know BCM was coming in, Cool. That'll put me back a few more spots :)

I roomed with Joe Taylor at bike week a few years back. Cool and unusual fellow. I like him. He has a lot of parts, some of them may even be good.

Your bike is a great. I just bought a 84 F1A, that has been havily race modified, if was built by Reino, in the mid 80's. After I bought the bike a coustomer who has a very clean 85 F1, told me he want's to sell his. He want $7,500 for the bike, it has about 7K miles and is very stock and original. If anyone is interested let me know.

Welcome to the Dark Side, Chris!
To paraphrase Peter Egan, never forget that racing makes heroin addiction seem like a mild craving for something salty.

So when's the first race? AHRMA, I assume? Have you done a qualified race school yet? Give me a shout anytime if you need help/advise (always pit upwind from Smallwood and the other weed whippers, bury the good beer at the bottom of the cooler and leave a couple of cans of Bud Light on top for the beer thieves, etc.) Always willing to help lead others down the slippery slope . . .

Oh, and check out the AHRMA BBS at http://www.ahrma-bbs.com

Hey Bruce, don't forget AHRMA also has "alternative" modern classes (singles, twins, triples) so your customers don't need to leave their modern bikes at home. Looking forward to seeing the tie dye shirts at the races.
