I was doing a track day at Eastern Creek and I lost the front coming out of turn 12. Unfortunatly I bent a gear selector and now it won't change down gears properly. The cosmetic stuff isn't too bad.

And my jacket held up ok but does have some "charater" now.

This means I need to fix the thing. So for the Paint scheme on it I have a few ideas on how I might want it. What do you think?

Option 1: Newer styled Marlboro.

Option 2: Older styled Marlboro.

Option 3: Kenny Roberts paint.

Option 4: Factory 80's Yamaha Colours.

The other options are painting up like the Black '05 model or leave it stock.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (drthompson65)

Thanks for your concern. The only injury (other than to my pride...) was a small burn on my left middle finger from the friction of the glove rubbing on the track. Didin't wear a hole through the finger but did through the palm, but no flesh touched the track. I was wearing Alpinestars GP Plus gloves. Once I had started sliding I just relaxed and let myself go so I think that's why I didn't have any injuries. Learnt that from years of dirt riding where I crashed often. Relax and you don't get hurt as much. Hard thing to learn though.

As for the colour choice I'm tossing up between the 80's Factory Yamaha and one of the Marlboro schemes. It will propably also boil down to how well it will work with the fairing shape on the R1.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Giannis)

Wow, that looks awwsome Giannis. I was thinking about having a go of doing up one in those colours, but not having photosho and only having MS Paint was going to make it hard.
If you feel like doing a Marlboro one...

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Bucko)

i dont think the Marlboro will work.. no place to put the latters the new R1 has minimalistic bodywork with lots of holes and edges..But the old style Marlboro it might work.

I actually prefer the older style Marlboro to the newer one. If you can do something with the colours it would be great.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Giannis)

Wow. If you were in Australia I would travel to buy you a beer after those efforts. That looks even better than the other one. You have some real skill there.
Again thanks a lot for your effort so I can see what my bike might look like.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Bucko)

Actually the first i did looks awfully close to a AKAI YZR500 that Shenne Rode in Early 80s as privater...
And is my favorite although Roberts,Lawson and Rainey Rode the old school marlboro version too.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Giannis)

Hmmm, that makes it tough. Do I do a Barry Sheene replica or a Marlboro replica? It wont be happening until next year after all the Giftmas stuff gets out of the way and I've got a few more $$$ in my pocket.

Re: I crashed my '04 R1. (Giannis)

I realize the Marlboro thing has been done quite a bit, but damn, this would look really good! It's like it was made for this bike...

Up at the last CCS race at Firebird, there was a guy racing an '04 R1, and he had it painted in a red and silver scheme that from a distance looked very much like the MV Agusta F4. It was quite nice!

Unfortunately, the bike was wadded up late in the day. No pretty, no more...
