I realize this is a long shot, but does anyone have any leads on getting one of the ECUs that HRC developed and offered for the VTR1000F (Superhawk/Firestorm) in the late 90s?

Line??? save yourself the trouble and start with an RC51... its easier to take out
the racing and turn it into a everyday ridable bike than to hop up a pedestrian
twin into a racer...

$5,300 out the door and they welcome Canadians... I think that means they
take your money with the silly goose on it...

Someone tell Fester that ECUs also control the ignition curve, apparently he isn`t aware of it. Understandable, as at his age, he likely thinks we are still running breaker points....

Apparently Fester machined a custom set of points out of magnesium for Mr 45, said the V4 and points combo is the only way to go for ultimate performance.....

cheap too unlike the RC45 which are rare and expensive...

he is building a high performance superhawk.
i dont think he is trying to turn it into an rc51,couldnt anyway.
he is building upon what he has available,such as myself.
we are in our own ways building what we think would be the ultimate superhawk,in our vision.
and if that includes using what ever hrc parts are available,so be it.
just proves the ole hawxter has a race pedigree also.
yes larry hrc produced parts for a "pedestrian" bike.
so instead of trashing someones efforts,welcome them to the hrc family instead.

Larry , to state the obvious which you can't seem to grasp , mikstr doesn't want to build an RC51 b/c the world is full of all types of bikes and tastes . And it's getting less and less amusing each time you post the rarity and cost of the RC45 just so you can remind yourself what a great deal you found . In the grand scheme of racing history (your obsession) , the RC51's success dwarfs the 45's , damn MSRP or putative collectibility ! I know that Americans are reputed to be ignorant of the outside world , but try to pry yourself away from those rudimentary old articles , and research the international Championship wins of Honda's **** twin . It'll take a while , but you might learn something .

Negative... the only area where RC51 dwarfed the RC45 was in cost... that
because the damn MSRP was only 10K then... which has deprecated to about 5K now...

American Colin Edwards set the fifth fastest time at a
Suzuka test this week. Edwards is supposed to be
teamed with GP rider Vale Rossi for the highly
important event, held at the end of July. Fast time
for the event was marked by Brazilian Alex Barros on
an RC45 Honda.

The 45 never beat the 51 at Suzuka? And the 30 has as many wins as the 45. You're relying on testing times from a 6yo bike vs a new platform? Stretching really hard to find some shred of credibility.

I had a VTR1000 Firestorm just before buying the RC51. I loved that bike. Should have kept it and the RC51 instead of trading in. That imo is a great bike to keep and enjoy.
