Not only is Damon the only one with experience on this, but he may also be the only one with the expertise to be able to install/integrate and tune one. I have the instructions in my HRC manual, but they might as well be in Japanese.

From my research the HRC ECU is different from the OEM in that it comes with a higher rev limit (11.5k?), a different base map and it is reprogrammable with the tuner box.

I can't recall whom, but I remember someone saying that you can more precisely tune the system with a powercommander than the analog 6 dial box. I also believe it was Damon who told me that he might piggyback a powercommander into the system and use that ontop of the tuner box, but I didn't get any confirmation that thats how it was done. Hopefully he can chime in here to clarify/verify.

And the HRC harness only works with an analog Tach which does not send the same signal as our digital tach's.

The HRC basic racer harness works with the stock ECU and tach, but you have to move the tach wire in the ECU connector so that it is on the proper pin for the stock ECU tach output.

My basic racer harness had the programmer connector(s) scabbed on by the previous owner. I took it out, since I don't have a race ECU.

It can be made to work with the OEM harness with not much effort. Just have to add a few wires in. The OEM tach wont read correct, IIRC it will show 1/2 the RPM's.

You can tune the bike with out the need for a power commander and get it very close to ideal. Also the HRC ECU is much more rich down low because it didn't have to deal with EPA crap. Other than that it works very similar to a stock ECU. Simple to program, the first knob adjust 0-7.5% throttle, second knob adjusts (dont remember the exact point) 75-100% throttle and the ECU will derive the mid range based on those two settings. There is also a knob for an accelerator pump function or temporary enrichment on abrupt throttle openings. I was never able to confirm this but I remember something about the ECU was faster then the SP1 unit with more detailed look up table, allot like the SP2 unit. But like I said, I never found out if that was true or not.

Yes you can still use the power commander with the HRC ECU if you want.

The HRC ECU uses a different fuel pressure as a handicap. Furthermore, it is set to larger injectors. There are differences between the HRC ECU's.
The SP1 HRC ECU is for SP2 OEM (62mm) injection.
In addition, the ECU does not take back the ignition at high rpms.

for the larger injectors without the hrc, couldn't you just use a pc3 and remove fuel?
