HELP guys! I'm re-installing the dry clutch in my Monster and the friggin' service manual does not specify the torque value of the small bolts that secure the clutch basket. These are the small 13mm hex bolts, not the one BIG nut on the main shaft. I know they get red locktite, but how tight do they need to be, in pound-inch or newton meters, any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Re: HELP!!! Clutch basket bolt torque values needed ASAP (chromedome)

Ducati calls for 30-34 newton meters which is 25 lb.ft. of torque.

Re: HELP!!! Clutch basket bolt torque values needed ASAP (brettmess24)

Thanks for the help guys! Well, I used locktite, and got the eight small bolts in and torqued to 30nm; assembled the clutch pack, etc., then on to the big nut... Torque spec is 186nm in the service manual. Except the tightening requires a special tool to hold the hub in place, which I don't have, so I tried shit-rigging it with a screwdriver and what do you supposed happened??? That's right, I broke off the tip of one of the clutch hub teeth (dumbass).

So, can anyone tell me if that broken tip (outside edge, not covered by clutch disks) is going to present a problem with the clutch function? About an eighth inch or so of material broke off at a 45 degree angle or so to the hub...

Thanks again!

Re: HELP!!! Clutch basket bolt torque values needed ASAP (chromedome)

chromedome,

I have a stock clutch hub from my 01 748s if you want it. I won't be using it. All you have to do is pay shipping. I don't know if is the same for your bike?

Heckler,

Can you take a PayPal payment for the shipping? I looked up the parts diagrams for the different bikes, and they all use the same clutch hub.

Phil998,

Your clutch tool looks great... Same question I guess... Do you take PayPal payments?

Thanks again!
