I think this will be my last shot at selling the RC. If it does not sell soon, I may just trade it in so that I can get something useful to me. Great opportunity to pick up a very nice RC.

12,000 commuter miles. Probably less than 1,000 in the mountains and no track time.

Never down.

Rear fender cut/license plate bracket fabricated. Typical paint rub-off on swingarm/couple very small rock chips on upper. Bike is VERY clean and unmolested. Adult rider with no delusions of grandeur.

Comes with cover, rear seat, warranty through March 09. Tires are questionable. Have a new front D220...can possibly be exchanged for your choice of front. Can also assist with purchase of rear at cost. Will mount/balance free if purchased through me.

Available to show/deliver pretty much any time. Please email for pics as posting has proven to be more frustrating than productive.

Please call if seriously interested. (760)684-9584 cell

Price?

Ok...sorry for leaving that out.

I was kind of hoping that someone would email me and say something like, "Yo dude..I got $7000, can you deliver it to me?" To which I would have replied, "when would you like it and what is the address?"

I would like to get $7000 with all the extras going with the bike.

I owe about $1500 more than I am asking.

I am willing to take less if someone with real money makes me an offer that is not an insult.

I have seen the other bikes advertised here. This is a no excuses bike. It is in primo shape. No cracked plastics, no salvage title. No pipes, no PC, no warranty issues.

My phone number is in the first post. Please give me a call and I will arrange to get together with you so you can see the bike in person. I work at a dealership and can help with financing as long as your credit is decent. (I only work there one day a week... I have a real job and am not trying to make money on this deal. It just needs to go to someone that will ride it and enjoy it. I think I have put 50 miles on it in the last month just to keep things working nicely.)

Honest questions, all of them...

Extras- Bike cover, warranty, spare front tires.

The bike was purchased new last March. With the warranty and TTL, I would have to look at how much I paid to begin with.

I would be very suprised if another dealer was selling 03's for $8000. That is below cost and by this time they have had to pay them off, so it does not cost them anything for them to sit on the floor. I would love to see what the OTD price is. And I am fairly sure that there are no new 03 RCs in So Cal.

If you want an 02, make me an offer or let me know when you want to see the bike. There's nothing wrong with the bike, it's fantastic, it just doesn't work for me.

1st off, I am not trying to jack your thread.

I'd be supprised if you get what your asking. I bought an 03 with less miles and $2000 in aftermarket parts for $7000 last year.

Just an honest reply from one rider to another:twocents

I'm glad that you got a great deal on your bike. No sarcasm here...I really am.

I also know that for many people, a stock that has not been hot-rodded is worth every bit as much as a bike with pipes, etc. I have done everything I can to leave it stock so that prospective buyers will know that this was not some kids bike that was doing wheelies from every stoplight, but an old dude that bought it because the VFR is just to much sissy bike for me to want to own. I love riding twins/v-motors and bought the RC specifically for that reason.

Also, I know that 12,000 miles sounds high around here, but I am serious when I tell you that 10,000 or more of them are 75 mph on the freeway commuting to work and back. They are miles, but low wear miles.

5- year warranties are a nice thing to have and may help someone feel better about the miles. In addition, I work for a dealership (part-time) and may be able to assist if there are any problems with getting warranty repairs.

Finally, I was asked what I wanted for the bike. You won't get what you don't ask for. What I want is $7000. I think that is a reasonable amount for a very clean RC. What I really want is for someone with the ability to come up with real money to come out and look at the bike in person so they can see how nice it is and make me an offer.

The bike is sitting at the dealership right now and I would rather take less from a responsible rider than more from some squid that is going to wreck it doing a wheelie leaving the dealership. I think selling it to a squid would break my heart.

Someone come and look at the bike and make me an offer in real money. I deal with enough un-financeable people at the dealership that it is hard to be interested until you show that you could actually come up with what you are offering.

And yes, I have been advertising long enough that I am willing to take less than $7000. How much will depend on your offer.

Thanks everyone for reading an incredibly long post. Once again I am more than willing to meet people in So Cal or possibly further away. My house is on the way to Vegas, so stop by on your way and check it out.

Thanks,
Rick

hey man dont mean to bust your balls but when you say "extras" people on this site think...pipe, pcIIIR, forged rims...etc and not a bike cover which i can use a old bed sheet and do the same thing!!!! :p

For another thing how do you expect us to believe that those 12k mile on the bike were all commuter especially when your screen name has the word racer in it!!!!

And another thing why would you buy an RC51 to commute with...its not like they are the most comfortable bikes out there???? things just dont add up is ya know what im sayin!!!!!:banghead

My screen name has anything to do with it? Come on...we all have dreams, right? If I were going to race anything, it would be my Mustang.

Come and look at the bike. You will be able to tell that it is commuter miles and not hard miles. I can send you a picture of the chicken strips if you would like.

I did not buy the bike for comfort. I bought it to ride in the mountains. Things did not work out like I planned. 40 mpg on the bike is WAAAAAAY better than 18-20 in the car or 15 in the diesel truck. But I am lazy and gave up on trying to commute on the bike. My commute is 150 miles per day and if it were shorter, I would probably use the bike still. The RC is not bad compared to a 91-92 GSXR or something like that. Yes, the seat could be better.

When I bought the RC, I lived in Nebraska and bought it because it was the bike that I had always wanted. My commute was 15 minutes if I stopped for gas. When I moved back to So Cal, I was unemployed and did not know that I would wind up with this crazy commute. My intention was to use the RC to ride from my house in Apple Valley to Wrightwood, ride Highway 2 to Newcomb's, and ride home. I bought my wife a Hawk 650 so that she could ride also since I knew that I would never be allowed to go without her. She decided that she was not interested in riding the Hawk and insisted in riding the RC with me. Everyone here knows that the RC simply should not have passenger pegs or a seat. Now this year Highway 2 was not open from Wrightwood and may not open next year either. I am not interested in riding 2+ hours from my house to Pasadena, then riding for 2 hours and then riding the 2+ hours home. This was the final straw that made up my mind.

As far as the extras statement:

1. You did actually read the post.
2. Have you tried to use a sheet at work? That is where I use my cover. I have a garage for the bike at home.
3. Normally a warranty is a pretty nice extra.

Thanks for the discussion...still waiting for someone to waive some cash in my face.
