I know how you feel. I sold my '02 998 for my dream bike '93 888.... However, I'm now in search of an 998R . . .

Unless you are talking about an SP3, I'd go for the 93. Although if you could find one, a 92 888 would be IT !
Personally, IMHO they are the most beautiful bikes Ducati ever made.

Did you see the one in the classifieds here - almost new, and I believe still for sale.

Re: FS - 05 749 (pacman)

In the US it would have been a 1993 888 SPO or in 1994 an 888 LTD.. Other parts of the World received different versions like the SP 2/3/4/ series as well as biposto 888's.. before the 888 it was the 851 series
Our service manager Kevin has a cream puff 90 851 but I don't think he'd even trade straight across

Not so mate ! I don't believe there is a LTD in the US. They were all sent back to Europe because we wanted the "bigger and better" 916. IT would have been the '92 888 SP4. Or a '91 851 SP3 in lieu of that. All over the SPO. Same with the (unobtanium) '92 888 SPS. BTW, I have a pristine '92 851 Strada with an 888 set of jugs and a couple of functional (not cosmetic) upgrades that wouldn't trade either.

Re: FS - 05 749 (pacman)

Wow, didn't mean to hijack this thread ! How much for your 05 ?

ok 888LTD's....personally I sold 3 of them thru the dealership I managed at the time, there were 100 earmarked for the US that year but I hear only 75 made it. I agree that the SP series would be the more desirable models but Cagiva North America did not bring them to the US as a street legal EPA approved model, we only received 888SPO in 1993 and a few 888LTD in 1994... The rest of the World received the 916 in 1994 but the US did not until 1995.. First few 916 were very scarce as were parts !
