Front mount rad help

Ok gents..... I know I know I know..... Search. I did! But I still need some help. I'm puuting on my front mount rads and can't figure out exactly how it fits together? Can anyone who has knowledge of the front mounts help me out? Or just shoot me a couple pics?

On a side note... Thorsten battery relocator is on.... Was pretty easy once I understood how it attached. Started the wiring harness.... Relocated everythin rather nicely.

Take it easy guys....

Quickest thing for you to do brother IS go into our RC51 Gallery section and look up the Many Wonderful pix there, of all Our RC51s there! eye-p is one that comes to mind and one guy's RC51 from Italy too! Killer builds with front mounts!

Peace Jeff
Yeah, what Mav said.

You'll kick yourself once you mount them, they're that simple. The plumbing is that part I questioned..
I guess I should have been more specific..... It's the plumbing that has left me thinking..... WTF. I have pieces but just can't figure out exactly how they mount up. It seems like are two dif types of front mounts.... Where I see some of the plumbing on one kit.... It's not there on mine?

Thanks for pointing me to eye p.... I'll see if I can find what you're talking about tomorrow?
I have one picture of part of the plumbing. Hope this helps.

Thanks... that helps. Does anyone have a photo from the top down? Looking through the throttle bodies? How does the plumbing work under there? From the side mounts the plumbing comes in from the left side of the bike unthe the airbox and throttle bodies.... but on the front mounts it looks like its coming in from the right? Do you guys just flip that "valve"/ "union" around?

Also the line at the bottom of the water pump... do you just take it completely off? How are you guys capping it?

Thanks.
random thought

i wonder if moving heat from the sides with fans to right next to the airbox affects A/F?

nice pic though:rockon

The line from the upper rad goes to the thermostat which needs an end capped. The water pump line needs to be capped or plugged, I think mine is soldered shut. Or you need to get one of these made to replace the thermostat completely:

Have you ever checked/looked at Thorstens web-site? Please do.

What does "FML" mean?
FML = F My Life
Ive looked for his website... i googled it, read skimmed through a ton of posts trying to find it.... no luck... if thats a link you posted...it doesnt work for me?

Nice pix Dave,
Let me ask you, as I have never seen (or noticed) front mounts like yours with the rounded front side water tank! What kind are they?

Also, You don't run your RC51 without the Thermostat do you!?

Great to see you're still here too brother!.:rockon

Peace Jeff

PS. Thanks for clearing up the FML question mabryusmc;)
The front rads cool the engine so much better that the thermostat will not operate correctly and it is better to take it out completely. I don't know where to get one made, Stunna hooked me up with this one. You can remove your thermostat from the housing and block the end, this piece is just a lot cleaner and easier to make the hoses all line up.

Hey Jeff, good to see you around lately too. There is a member on this board that made the whole setup for me.

Hey Dave,

I asked about the Thermostat because Years ago (in 2005) approx. 2 month after buying my brand new RC51, when I removed mine... even with OEM rads.,.. My RC51, she ran TOOoo COLD! Which isn't good for the engine either.. In traffic, temps would come up alittle but once I got rolling again... Temps. would be in the 140-150 range... Crazy mang., and it ran like crap too! I put the Thremostat back in, in less the a month... unfortunitely... thats how long it took me to figure out I needed to put it back in..:banghead

Looks like you guy did a Killer job making those... Are you Happy with how everything went down... I wonder IF he still makes them..?

Peace Jeff

PS. Yes mabryusmc, Durbhan is Thorsten.:rockon

Here's afew pics for you.
Hope this helps.
Just a note: The thermostat replacement tube in these pics was a mock setup.
The actual one is like the pic afew posts above. That was the one i made for Stunna a while back.
Cheers.

I'm running the same delete tube... Temps run around 180/190 in July on track. I had to tape up RAD earlier in the year, when I was using a thermastat, to get the thing up to temp... 175 up is good, below 175 not so much..:rockon

As a comparison, last year, same track, 252 degrees on track..
Thanks man.... that helps a lot... When i get home Ill take a look at mine a little closer. Im going to keep the therm in.
