I need to remove my forks so they can be revalved and sealed by a local mechanic. What is the easiest way to lift the bike for this? I don't have a front pin stand so I was going to use my rear stand to stabilize it, remove the fairings and use a floor jack with a piece of wood across the oil pan. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Fork removal? (blazeword)

Buy a triple tree stand or lift it from the triple tree with a hoist.

If you have access to one, use an engine hoist and strap around the triples.

A front tripple stand is obviously the best way, but you can use 2 ratchet straps from the rafters in your garage if you need a cheap solution. Just be sure to set the straps about 3-4 feet apart to triangulate the front end to be more stable.
