However it was in lieu of roadracing this year. I have been racing the last 3 but I am going to take this year off due to a new baby and another on the way. I am really looking forward to doing a ton of riding. I bought a 2000 Suzuki RM 125.
Did I mention I am pumped !

So the question is, where do you plan on riding? It's getting harder and harder to find places to ride around the Twin Cities.

gotta head up north. i usually go riding on sundays, in Nemadji state forest, up east of Askov.

Re: (cb186)

My thinking was letting you get one spot closer to the podium. Let you have at least one year of glory.
I plan on riding almost every weekend with the dirtbike. This will be a good training year for me then I'll be back next year after the new baby is born.

Also alot at Vandererfs and meadow valley ( a good friend of mine is good friend with owners) and Arkansaw Wi, and where ever else I can find dirt.

Is that a DNR trail/forest? Does it get pretty busy on sundays?

Re: (Gerg)

it is a series of public trails. everything from fire roads, to wide trails to super tight, muddy trails that are just wide enought for dirtbikes. sundays seem to be the best, because alot of people camp out all weekend and head back early sunday afternoon, so there is less traffic than on saturdays.

here is a link to the state map. it is south of Duluth and NW of Hinkley, on the border, #12.

oops, didnt see that post.
one closer will be good, but that is only in one race per weekend anyway. and actually, this will be my last year of racing(except for a little motard and WERA clubman stuff once in a while after i build a bike).
why about wooping your ass? why not? lol.
i dont know how muck dirtbiking i will do this year. the first part of the summer is pretty busy with racing, and i'm trying to get the 450 set up for flattrack. i have to switch the KX from Motard to MX before i even can get out.

Thanks! Is it pretty easy to find? The DNR directions seem a bit...fuzzy. Looking at a Google map, I'm not sure where to go. It says to get off at exit 227 (Mahtowa) and head to Highway 23. Are there signs up there to find it? I'm off work next week, maybe I'll go up on a weekeday & check it out.

Hurricane Hills is a fun track to ride also, they are racing there this weekend but I will be working.

I bought a YZ426 last fall and got to ride it a little bit. It gets addicting and I was sick of watching my nephew race so I decided to get back into the MX riding. I find the older I get the harder it is, getting passed by kids on 85's sucks but it's still fun as hell to ride.

Also there is http://www.midwaymx.com for track riding. Here is a link to a picture of my nephew racing there last weekend.

Re: (cb186)

According to the DNR's website, the Gandy Dancer trails are open year-round, so I assume they're open now!

Maybe I'll call the DNR number listed to be sure.

Re: (Gerg)

the Gandy Dancer trail is a big main fire road style trail, which is open year round, but it's basically like riding down a dirt road. the real trails close nov 1st and open sometime around now, depending on trail conditions. if the trails are too wet and could be overly damaged, they will leave them closed awhile longer.

Re: (cb186)

Ah, well, that makes a difference then. It looks like most of the trails won't open until May 1st.

Shoot.
