Ok guys I saw pics of one of the guys bikes here on the site, and it had black calipers. I pm'ed him and he told me they were off of an F4i 600. Anybody else do this and what all is involved? direct replacement lots of mods, hassles??? He also had a black rear caliper from the same bike. Same questions, fit, hassles mods?? Just trying to get rid of all the gold on my bike, just don't like it!! I would rather have brembo stuff but being out of work sick doesn't pay to well, plus I have heard bad things abot he feel of the front brembos??? Thanks all HOOVY

Direct swap, nothing to worry about. I think that the calipers actually do have different sized pistons, but that doesn't affect mounting at all. Just keep that in mind if you do a rebuild (which would probably be a good idea while you have them off the bike).

what? The 900RR pistons are bigger than sp2? Is the Sp2 piston size different than the Sp1?

I saw the front calipers and kind of knew it would swap easy but not sure about the rear. There were casting differences will check in an hour or so if it is possible.

Hoovy

I just did a quick search and came up with 99-06 seem to be the same.
The rear brake line mounts a little bit forward than the stock RC51 caliper but works just fine. I'm running a Scotts rear brembo under-hung kit so you can buy mine:D and all you will have to do is source a front set off of ebay, there is a dozen listings on there right now...

HMMMM Well what you got

Well send me some pics of what you got. I may just take it off your hands. I have found several of Scotts kits but there weren't black. One black one and I missed it. Imagine that??? Looking for some fron brembos too if I run across some for sale. :) I need to make a post of all the goodies I'm looking for!! :D

while outwardly the same, the piston diameters are different on the Sp-1 and 2 (same as for the 929 and 954). This topic has been covered a few times (with appropriate MC and caliper piston diameters listed) on the Superhawk forum.

I just did this swap actually. I upgraded my brakes to a full brembo set up and put my stock rc brakes on a f4i. So I still have a full set of steel braided lines and all 3 black calipers if you are interested. These calipers worked when they were removed from the bike but I would highly recommend a rebuild. Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you want to work something out.

Well ???

according to MIKSTR

03 & 04 600RR and 02 & 03 929RR are exact matches, but the other one have suttle differences but are they too much to make them not work. I know the master cylinder difference makes a difference but does it hurt?????
What works and what doesn't ?????? HOOVY
