Alex Ortner (who is on this board - http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...17396 ) also does this modification.

He did mine.

Thanks all. is their a specific distance you should stay away from the bolt holes and off the bottom of the case??

I would say 5mm is a good start.

Ben Fox did my case for 75 bucks.

I just can't figure this thread out...no knocks against the guys who have the balls to do it, but from the pics I've seen, the end result of going mental on your engine case looks no where near as good as the job Fox does for $75 including return shipping...$75... I know there is a real DIY vein running through the group here but is it worth doing it yourself when you can have a super clean professional job done for such little money?

I really don't think my pic does the piece justice. And I'm sure the rest would agree that 908SSP
does quality work.

Why would you want to do this? Is it for looks or does it help with venting? Does it reduce the strength and will it result in increased damage in a lowside crash?

Please forgive my ignorance, it does look great - a nice custom finish, but I have never really seen it before... Inquiring minds want to know....

A salute to the Captain! My comments weren't aimed at your case as it is clearly not the product of a few beers, a hole saw and a hacksaw. Alex is a craftsman and although I haven't seen him vent cases in person, I am pretty sure he doesn't do them by hand/eye. Calling Alex's work "quality" is an understatement.
