Here I sit , awaiting the next 1.5 hours to pass so I can watch the delayed broadcast of WSBK Qatar , and I realized something soo obvious but something I never really thought about before.......

I have seen plenty of commercials for the big 4 bike brands , but I have never seen a Ducati TV commercial , have you?

not specific to ducati, but they show up in some chevy truck commercial.

Maybe they have commercials overseas?

I asked Tom Porter about that last year when the SFBMHA met at Ducati North America before a group ride. He said that for the cost of even a few commercials during prime time they could afford to sponsor another racer for a year, so that's where they invest.

Not only do I like that answer but do you really want to see Ducati commercials? Then all those squids buying RC51

might see the light and buy a Duc. That's the last thing we need.

but if they had commercials and sold more bikes, had more money, could they then not afford to sponsor even more riders? I don't know what all is involved in that process so maybe I'm wrong there.

Either way, it would be weird to see commercials.

They do a fair amount of print advertisement though.

speaking of advertising. I love cycle cat but has anyone else seen the lame ass ad in the latest Motorcyclist? The one where they get a semi decent looking racer chick to compare their top triples to a set of billet handcuffs? Puke.

A couple of years ago, Ducati created a tv commercial that dealers could purchase to use in their local markets. I think we should have one like that KTM ad that was out a couple of months ago...you know, the one where the hooligan tore it up on the streets? Anyone have that link again? Cool stuff. Like to see an MS2R in that commercial.
