Here is some video I shot back in June when visiting Deals Gap. It starts at the Tennessee side and finishes at the North Carolina side gas station. I did this at about 7:30am on my last day there. I was taking it easy so needless to say this is not intended to be a demonstration of speed. It has taken me a while to figuire out how to use Adobe Premiere and I thought it might help some of you snow bound get through the winter months. Enjoy.

Awesome road. Awesome music.

It should be a law that everyone has a road like that within 5 miles of their home.

Or everyone should get a learjet with room for a few bikes.
Either way sounds good to me

Re: Deals Gap Video (jager)

Thank you for not crossing the double yellow with exception of the few passes.
G
Absolutely, jbrslins. One thing the camera does not let you see is the full range of view. On those passes I was taking my time and had a clear view of the road ahead.

Re: (onealpha)

I have a friend who lives in East TN. that has several bikes. I have an open invite to visit and I get the 03 750SS Duc to ride the Gap with. After seeing the video, looks like I had best be making some travel plans.

Awesome ride
Winter is really setting in now. Temps have been well below zero nights and barely above during the day for the past week. With 8-10 inches of the white stuff coming tonight this vid is just what the Doc ordered

BTW, what was your avg speed? It looked like 60-70. Digital camera or tape? Will this file play on a dvd like a movie or is there any way to convert to a format thet will? Love to see it on my hdtv in surround sound

Deal's is an awesome road, no doubt, but the Cherahola (sp?) up there is soooo much better. Alot more scenery, longer ride, and alot more high speed sweepers.
G
I wish I had a road like this near my house.

I am not really sure what my average speed was but it probably ranged between 35 in the really tight stuff and maxed at 55~65 in the straights. That road has so many blind corners that unless you know it well you are rolling the dice by riding too fast. I would guess that most of the time I was riding in the 45~50 range. I did make a DVD for my friends who went up there with me. I shot it on Digital Video. I do have the tools to convert it to Surround Sound and burn to DVD although I am still learning how to use them. This was my first Video on the bike,so it was a learning experience and the on board audio wasnt as good as it could have been. Next year I plan taking more video with even better results.

I love the Cherahola. I have some footage of the Cherahola too. I will work on editing that footage next.

We got closer to two feet of snow
so more videos...please

BTW, will you use Adobe Premier for converting to dvd? I bought a Hi-8 camera about 3 months before the digital cameras came out
. I should sell it and get a digi cam. They seem to work real well on bikes. I'd like to get some footage like that and track days too.

...apples to oranges, man! Two different roads...both very cool in their own right.

Just don't crash on the Cherohala Skyway or you can add 'a lot more time to bleed out' to your list of accolades. The funny thing is that I never notice much scenery on either road

Re: (duc97sp1)

I am using Adobe Premiere to do the video editing and I havent even figuired out how to use After Effects for the transitions and such. Then I have to learn how to use Adobe Encore to burn the DVD. My first DVD of Deals Gap and Cherahola I used my brother-in-laws Mac to make the DVD with iMovie and iDVD. That software is so easy to use and I could put a movie together in no time. Adobe products are totally different and allow you to do so much more. Unfortunately it will take me some time to learn how to use them. I used a Sony DV camera, I think it was a PC-1 or similar model. The mount I bought on eBay and it works perfect. I will get to work on the Cherahola this week and try to post it before the weekend.
