Anyone know somewhere to buy these in the ventilated (screened) version for 2-valve motors? ECS Ducati has them on their website, but of course, none in stock.
TIA. Joe

Re: Carbon fiber cam belt covers? (Joe B)

The screened ones are going to be pretty much unavailable...I tried through ECS for a year off and on...never happened.

In fact, right now even the "plain" CF covers are backordered everywhere; Ducati says "4-6 weeks" 'til delivery to vendors, which in Italian means "I think I'll wear a blue shirt on Monday".

I finally tracked some down through Stuart at spareshack.com; the guy has everything and often stuff no one else has.

I'll be cutting mine out and riveting in some stainless steel mesh I bought at McMaster-Carr. What a pain in the ass, but I want the look and the cooling...

Good luck!

Me too. Let me know how it turns out; I thought about ventilating a solid one myself too.

Post some pic's if you would? I'm thinking of doing it also. But why rivets...expoy them in this way you don't have rivet heads sticking out?

Re: Carbon fiber cam belt covers? (viper1)

I'm actually going to be cutting out 3 "windows" per cover, and the rivets (or other fasteners) would be aesthetic as much as anything else. When I originally cut out the stck covers and put screens in them, I did use epoxy and it worked fine.

Looks nice!!!

But I'd rivet themfor safety - wouldn't want the screens to come loose while the bike/belts are running

And BTW, you are wearing a respirator/goggles when cutting/grinding down the CF, right?!?

Re: Carbon fiber cam belt covers? (edwyun)

Yes, I'm wearing a 3M 8500 mask! I was going to go w/ some kind of fastener, but I was afraid of riveting for fear of cracking the CF...

Thanks for the kind words by the way; after all, your bike was the inspiration! (And there's about 100 versions of that photo of your bike on my hard drive...still figuring out paint/logo/frame color/wheel color stuff!)

Re: Carbon fiber cam belt covers? (DesmoBob)

The 3 windows really set it apart

True about possibly cracking the CF. I don't know how/what type of rivet it is but the ECS vented covers use very tiny rivets. I wonder if you could drill the CF very slowly to prevent cracking it.

As for inspiration, I'd take a custom made part than something off the shelf any day!

Yes please (I need another) and while we're at it, some more stuff for the carbed SS's (I have some extra bodywork and such to create molds)!!!

Ummmm... yeah .... for the 998/748 would also be cool.

.....but only if he also makes a CF nut protector, 'cause my wife has threatened to cut mine off if I get anymore of your stuff.

Not CF, but RCM makes some ventilated / slotted cam belt covers for the 2V motors; I solicited Martin @ Motowheels about them and he said he'd look into it, but haven't heard since - then again, he did say it may take 6 or more weeks to begin getting them in stock. Martin any comment?

Re: (Nick D.)

Well, he already has molds for the cam belt covers that he made a while ago. They just need to be finished up, and clips need to be fabricated for the inside of the covers. Making a new rear fender for the SS vs. finishing the cam belt covers is like 100 hours of work vs. 10 hours of work.

To the folks with the one piece belt covers ( CF or plastic ):

Where did you find them and what did they cost you ?

Inquiring minds want to know....
