FVCK ! Well , I don't know why I did it . This morning I was removing a wheel chock from behind my Mini , started to push the tire forward a little with my right thumb when it slipped , snapped back and touched my wrist .:clapper Now my hand is twice normal size . I didn't hear a snap and the hand doesn't hurt unless I move the thumb in the direction it hyper-extended . Hate hospitals so I'll just ice it for now . No riding for a while , especially not the RC . Not good considering the short riding season here .:wackyAny other suggestions to get the swelling down , LOL ?

That's what my wife says as she continuously shakes her head . I blame her , it's really her Mini . I posted this in the wrong place , brain shrank as hand expanded , sorry Dave ; please move at your discretion .

Oh the car is pristine , just sits in the garage b/c she won't drive it , prefers the Miata . Curiously I felt no pain when the thumb extended back , and hand doesn't hurt , just looks like a cartoon puffy glove . Should be ok , will give it a couple of days and try riding the Shadow .

The car sits for extended periods in a garage with a sloped floor , and I don't like to keep the parking brake on for months at a time , so I park it in gear with a wheel chock to stop it from gradually moving .

Go to a hand specialist, not just a doctor. If you broke the ligament in the thumb, you will need it re-attached and the sooner you do it the better.

Theyr'e going to need an MRI to verify the issue, make sure you get it done.

Take 3 sun dried toads on a stick and lay them on the swelling and feel the healing...

Just had something similar happen a little bit ago, keep icing it and keep it moving as much as possible(hand is easily prone to long term damage from scarring), also take motrin regularly to get the swelling down. I originally thought I broke my thumb, but a week later it was pretty much completely healed. Hope this helps. And if the wifey doesn't drive the mini, you should tear that shit up, fun cage to drive. :rockon

Never admit to owning a Mini unless you're in highschool.:banghead

I had something similar happening about four years ago.
Being stubborn like you (I just want to see the doctors for my periodic check-ups) I decided to ignore it.
It took me about six months to get thumb back to fully operative mode.
To this day I staunchly refuse to have MR and X-ray to the hand to see what really happened...

It's not Haime's fault , his pops never bought him a go-kart as a kid so he can't appreciate the Mini . BTW , thanks again for the responses , my hand is almost normal size now even though both thumb joints click , but it should be ok .:)
