very rare and very cool. parts will be tough to come by. If I lived in NC this would be mine. This was the top of the line--roughly $40000 when new.

I think the bike should come with a little sticker on the tank...

I'm note sure how the N.C. druglords maintain their bikes.....not that I don't "trust them."

Bimota for....STOLEN!?!?!
Hey guys.... found this thread while poking around the net for more and more info on the Bimota SB8R special....as I was the purchaser of said Bimota from the surplus auctions. It went up for sale at least 5 times--I lost out on the Feb '05 bid by bidding 10,300, but the person who bid 10,500 did not pay for the bike...so it came back up for auction. This time--in May-- I did indeed win it.
Of course, the battery was toast, the front tire was flat, and the rear turn signal and license plate holder was also missing. Other than that and a scratch on one of the mirrors, it was pretty damn sweet.
I say WAS, as in" PAST TENSE" because after getting it serviced at a local shop, I put a grand total of 300 miles on it over the next 8 weeks (no rear turn signals= highly illegal to ride) before it was stolen. The power was amazing... and the bike felt so unbelievably planted and stable.... BUT someone decided they wanted or needed it more than me, and stole it one Friday night sometime after 3AM (last time I saw it). :banghead
This was in September. I'm STILL dealing with my insurance company 6 months later. If anyone sees a nice Bimota SB8R special, with Arrow carbon exhausts, please understand I'd like some info on the person. NOt simply because they stole it, but because I'm dealing with the insult of a protracted fight with my insurance company. Any and all info would be appreciated.

that's the problem. They advise they go by nada.com....but check nada. NO values for 2000 at all for Bimota. Kelly Blue book at time said 15k+. Their offer is....significantly....below that.

The SB8R Red and white, or the Special (black) ? It's a great bike... I highly recommend... where did you see this? Also - Dig the TESI that just vanished off eBay...didn't sell as the reserve wasn't met - bidding only got to $23k or so.....
