Re: BCM being sold! (oneducs)

I spoke with Susie about this a couple of weeks ago, and she let the cat out of the bag...but I didn't post anything until their web site article appeared.

I think Bruce will still work on selected bikes. I know they neither he nor Susie would sell their business to anyone who didn't share the same passion for Ducati...and customers...as they do.

Re: BCM being sold! (998R)

Yeah, but how involved will Bruce and Susie be? I love BCM, but those two are the heart and soul of the dealership (I hate using that word for them). I will give the new ownership every chance to maintain or improve, but I fear change.

You guys have any idea when the transaction is supposed to take place (or has it already?)

Re: BCM being sold! (Kennedy)

The new owner is Leslie Grossman he used to work there for years. He is as passionate about Ducatis as they come. I think you will find that BCM will only get better with fresh enthusiasm

Re: BCM being sold! (Kennedy)

I sure hope it works out. A lot of times you find that passion does not always translate into good business sense. Very few have that unique ability to use passion wisely to build success the way that Bruce and Suzie have.

Re: BCM being sold!

BCM recently did some follow-up work on my ST4, and while I was up there I spoke with Susie. She said that the new owner agreed to keep the BCM crew so long as they maintain the BCM passion! That's a good sign. And she said the change of hands was going to happen "in the next couple of weeks".

Susie also said Bruce was going to do some consulting work with DNA, and some technical work with other Ducati dealers, and also some specialty work in his own dream shop on his ranch. This ownership change will allow Bruce to focus on the technical aspects of Ducati and free him from the day to day stress of running a business.

The new owner will keep the BCM name for a few years, all the mechanics will stay, and it appears things will be as good as before the change. I'll continue to support them.

I also spoke with a couple of mechanics and they both were excited about the new owner. It seems this new owner has a passion for Ducati and wants to carry on the tradition.

Re: BCM being sold! (DanST4)

it is good news that bcm is being bought by someone that shares the same passion as they do for duactis

when i told two of my buddys that bcm was being bought out they had a look of horror and fear on their faces
as they travel from rhode island up to new hampshire to get any service work done and trust no one in our area.
but after they read this post they are little more relaxed and will continue to use bcm.

Re: BCM being sold! (oneducs)

I am a loyal customer of Bruce and Suzie - their personal approach to the whole shop whether you are buying a hat or having a major service done is going to be hard to replicate or replace. Often these small businesses are a shell around their owners and in this case there are 2 large sets of shoes to fill.

I will be giving the new owner a chance though and will hope for the best. In the mean time I wish Bruce and Suzie all the best in whatever new adventures they take on.

Re: BCM being sold! (oneducs)

Im making my first pilgrimage there with my first Duc and now I hear this?

I was told by a pro that I have to bring the bike to them because they are the best.
If I took it anywhere else I would get my ass kicked. I almost got it kicked for buying my bike elsewhere but I was forgiven....once.
Ill keep my appointment..........But!!!! The new owner better know that nothing but the best will be tolerated.Im sure he does.....
Maybe he should come on over here and settle us down.

Re: BCM being sold! (Busamouse)

I met Leslie Grossman when I moved to Vermont back in the late '90's. At that time, he was working in the Parts & Accessories dept. of a local Honda / Suzuki dealership. The thing that struck me back then was his enthusiasm for bikes and wanting to move that shop to the next level of accessory availability. Later, as I recall, he surfaced at BCM and to Alex's point, he showed that same enthusiasm there. My recollection, admittedly fuzzy now, was that he enjoyed working at BCM but at that level (P&A), he had a limited future. He moved to NY and I had not heard what he was up to until recently when his name surfaced in one of the monthly bike magazines. After that, I too was surprised to see him take over BCM.
Bruce is obviously one of the very best Ducati guys. Just being in the shop, you could sense that the time necessary to run the business, even with a great crew, was keeping him from full time devotion to his real passion - Ducatis. Time will tell how Leslie manages the shop and the direction he wants to take it. IMHO, change can and will be a good thing as BCM moves towards the future. Good luck to my favorite shop!
