Roughly 30HP and 30lbs is a pretty tough disadvantage to overcome....

Suzuki's are kicking butt in both AMA Superbike and World Superbike. I'm not a big Suzuki fan but I am a Troy Corser fan and it's great to see him back at the top after a miserable time with the (Old) Foggy Petronas. Neil has been doing an excellent job given that he has no track time in the USA compared to Matt. Eric certainly looked stronger in the second race but it's obvious that he's having problems coming to terms with the bike. The WSB boys are not having much luck either...

i am wondering if ducati will ask for more cc's like japan did when the 1000 twin was racing the 750 4's i thought that was a better match i was acctually suprised at how well hodgsen did against the gixxer after seeing how the wsbk race went

I looked at the new Suzuki and actually thougt about buying one until I got a 1500 a year insurance quote on it (with 1000 deducatable). I went with a 999 instead. Got a great deal, great financing, and I'm only 350 dollars a year with full coverage (250 deducatble). I guess in my old age I'm going to style and handling over all out speed. Also did you see that post from a guy who didn't make it home on his new Gixxer1K?! Nature will really weed out the stupid on that bike.

In race two, I saw Yates beating up his tires early in the race. He was smoking them up all over the place. I knew Hodgson was going to take second as soon as the race started.

In WSBK, I'm rooting for Chris Walker on the ZX-10R. What a ride he put in today. Corser is the man. I'm glad to see that old timer winning again.

Mladin must be STOPPED!!!!!

According to Planet Superbike, they say that Hodgson is running pump gas because their Shell sponsor does not yet have an AMA legal rocket fuel as allowed by the rules. They say this is good for 5 to 7 HP.

Maybe they could use VP or something else and put it into a Shell can......

I continue to be surprised that the AMA, which strongly favors production-based racing, does not control the fuel rules to limit the teams to pump fuel. It seems to me that it would be one way to control speeds (rather than take the premier bike race in America and limit it to 600s!), and would also make the oil companies more likely to sponsor the teams, since they could then advertise that these bikes use the same premium pump fuel that they sell to everyone. Maybe the AMA is still dreaming of the days when Harley flat trackers raced on rocket fuel in the '50s . . .

I am not surprised that they use rocket fuel

The AMA is in the pocket of the Japanese manufactures. Four cylinder bikes get a much bigger boost from special fuel then twins. I have talked to a guy who runs a dyno all day the average Joe's four cylinder bike picks up twice the horse then a twin, everything else being equal.
