I am tired of borrowing my dealers special tool to remove the specail round thingy-majigger to remove my top triple clamp. I need to install my bar risers and I know from experience that not even my biggest flat screw-driver will remove that phucker withou fubar'n the thing.
What do you people use??????????

Just loosen the three Allen bolts and pull it off.

You may have to use a little finesse... (a big rudder mallet)

Motowheels sells a nice one that's not too much $$.

You need to take the weight off of the front end and it will slip off with a little bit of pulling. No need to take the big center nut thingy off.

Huh, for real? I have a electric hoist in my garage. I use this to lift the front while doing suspension work and settings. Among other things.....
I had the upper and lower triple loose, along with the pinch bold. I was using a large screw driver and the thing would not come unscrewed. You are telling me that the top triple will just pull up with the afformentioned done?
Thanks

The slotted cap just loads the steering head bearings, you shouldn't need to turn it unless your steering is loose. In fact you might even say that if the top clamp doesn't slide off easily, you have something misaligned or bent, quite possibly the steering tube that the cap screws onto.

it should come off easily if everything is straight like described above....I made a tool out of barstock fitted with 2 screws and captive nuts as described in the Haynes manual and it works fine.
