Does the anodization wear off after a while of riding ?
What would be a better route to go if it does if i wanted black ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess it depends on what brand. But from what I have seen the DP and Cycle Cats hold up great.

I've got DP black rearsets. The only wear I can detect is on the knurled top part of the peg, where my boot constantly rests. Just minor wear, nothing to get excited about!

I have the DPs and have spots that show bare metal from my boot rubbing it (I guess).

Anodizing will wear off if there is enough movement on the part (like boot to heel guard etc)....it is not exactly a hard surface (unless it is hard anodized...then you can hit that shit with a die grinder and most wil not even marr up)...and it is not that deep of a process (it does not penetrate the surface very much)....so anything can show signs of wear.....I like it because it shows the bike is being ridden.....

Mine started showing wear after one seaon of riding. They didn't last long at all.

number_nine: I used to work as a test technician at a company that made nitrogen gas springs for the stamping industry. We did in fact send some parts to an anodizer in Detroit and had them hard coated and I hit it (part of a test to see what its wear characteristics would be like in a stamping press) with a die grinder that had an 80grit pad on it. It threw sparks and we thought the anodizing was gone.....not even close. The anodizing was untouched....the part lost zero thickness (cmm'd the part before and after test).....so I ma not talking out my ass here.....hard coating is just that....a hard coating that penetrated the surface much deeper than plain anodizing. I do this shit for aliving......I get to break things and get paid for it.
