going to paint my race bodywork and tank next weekend and its the first time i have done anything this big. i am painting it just flat black, but i there is some very light rash on one spot.

so what can i do to fix the scratches and what materials should i get? also what kind of primer and paint should i use, how many coats, i have a paint gun, just a craftsman with one of those cans on the bottom. i figure it only needs to look good from a distance.

if there is a web page i can go to that has some step by step info that would be great. i have read some information on Color Rites page and found it pretty usefull.

thanks in advance.

Re: anyone got some basic tips for a beginner painter (KevinTX)

I used to paint automobiles and aircraft for a living, if you like, you can email me with your cell number and I can call you Saturday and hopefully explain some techniques.

I am headed to Pocono early tomorrow for a track day and I am hitting the rack early tonight.
