I grew up on Long Island and used to make the trip to Marcus Dairy for Super Sunday's with a old Ducati friend of mine.Great Rides.
I would love to make that trip again with him after 11 years , but I lost touch with him and I moved down south.
So enjoy the trip for me, maybe I will get to make the trip again one day.

I've got a lakehouse on Mahopac
Not often you meet folk from there!

I do Dairy once every couple years. Too many squids and idiots attracted to that event for my tolerance but it can be nice to go if only for the bike viewing. Too few sportbike-oriented vendors too

a lake house in Mahopac? is it on lake Mahopac or another of the many lakes around there? i lived on lake Cassie.
there were squids back in the 80's too. as a kid that was the cool part. watching guys on extended swingarm bikes do smoke shows and wheelies with the Conn. State Police right there. the Harley guys were real 1% types not the mainstream avg. Joe crowd they are now. once i got my 1st road bike (kh 400 triple with expansion chambers.) we'd ride up and Dad and I would "get on it" on the way out and make noise.
it was awesome. i'll be up there for 2 Sundays and hope to go both times.

I live about 1 mile from Marcus Dairy. I usually spend my time riding rather than going to Marcus and looking at other bikes. That said on any given Sunday in nice weather there will always be a crowd at Marcus. Of course this crowd has two distinct groups. Sportbikes and Harleys. Since I pretty much ignnore the Harleys I can only comment that you will see some nice standards and sportbikes there. Some are bone stock, some are highly modified, some are classsic. The four Super Sunday events that they do every year is much more of a Harley fest. If anyone goes to Marcus on a regular Sunday (I don't do Stupid Sunday anymore) post it here, I would break my normal routine to go over there, drink some bad coffee, look at a few bikes and then take I nice ride up into the foothills of the Berkshires. I do know most every good motorcycle road in Western Connectitcut and east of the Hudson New York.

On the lake. My summers are difficult: ride or wrench the Ducs or take one of the skiis out on the water

Still the same extended-swingarm crowd today who insist on revving their engines as they idle down the access rd behind a line of traffic

Ducaholic, what ARE those great rds? The best I know are 22, 39/37 around the lake, and parts of 7 above Kent. Explored a bit through CT on the way to Newport but didn't find a whole lot of interesting roads. And we looked (at least we think we did!).

If you guys want to hit some nice roads in the area I know some sick back roads on 53 and 58 not to far from Marcus Dairy. The ride has some nice views and rest areas overlooking the reservoir. I go up a few times a year with some friends. We can do a nice 30-40 mile loop around the reservoir and be back at Marcus Dairy in 1-2 hour.

So when ever you guy come this way post up and let us know it will be fun

sounds like things have changed (doesn't everything?) and maybe not for the better. when i was a kid going there it was mostly sportbikes and big touring rigs. the Harleys were not so common.
the roads i remember are the Bear Mtn parkway up to West Point and the neverending racetrrack of the Taconic State parkway. i've scared myself so many times on that road it's...scary.
i'll post in the summer on this and we'll come up with a plan.

Re: (mikeinwi.)

I'll add a more detailed reply later, but in NY there is Rt 301 that runs from Carmel Lake to Cold Springs. Down Rt 9W there are some fun spots and Snake Hill Rd connects 9W to 9D is a good little road. Routes 53 and 58 can be pretty good as are a few other roads off those routes as well. Also up Rt 7 there are some good ones near Cornwall Bridge Rt 41, Rt 4, Rt 341 and other roads up near Limerock, just too many for me to remember and list right now. I have been riding these roads for about 11 years both for pleasure (on bikes) and for work since I'm in sales and quite a few of my customers are up in those areas. Wow thinking of all those great rides is really making me wish that there was not any snow on the ground now. Anyone going to the bike show at the Javits Center in NYC this weekend?
